The Lynx have signed guard Aari McDonald formerly of the Indiana Fever. What do you know about her Kek, and why didn't Indiana retain her?

Small, pass first guard who is an elite defender. She hurt her foot during the playoffs last year and has not played since, that’s why she is not on the Fever. Massive upgrade at the backup PG position for the Lynx if she doesn’t massively struggle coming off a year long injury.

I will say really rough 24 hours for Elise Joklova. Missed game sealing FTs against China for Czech Republic. Then cut 2 hours before playing the USA. She has 11/3/2 at half and playing great. I believe they are trying to get her on a developmental contract but the WNBA is so cruel, so hard to develop young talent in your system for multiple years in the W because Joklova is so good at drawing fouls but isn’t a natural PG yet.

Just watched some highlights and looked at her stats. To me one of the things the Lynx needs off the bench is someone who can get a bucket or force some action. It looks like McDonald has some burst and she isn't afraid to jack up a 3. If she can defend that's excellent. If she still has that burst that's good.

I also see she played with Howard last year with the Fever and Bibby a handful of games too. She has played with Coffey Caldwell and was teammates with Courtney Williams in McDonald's rookie year. I know it's a smaller league but having some familiarity with other players is probably nice.

I think Elise can play it's just that the Lynx need more than what she can provide right now and McDonald seems like a really good option. I hope they can keep her around. No team has picked her up the other times they let he go so...we will see.

Being located in Perth Australia, I normally just lurk here and rely on all of you for expertise, but finally I can add something. I saw her play quite a bit for the Perth Lynx in the WNBL over here a few years ago. Interesting that Kek describes her as a pass-first defensive PG, because she was a pretty ball-dominant scoring guard over here for the Lynx.

Obviously a lower level league over here, but I really liked her ability to score from all three levels in her season in Perth. If she has been a pass-first defensive PG in the NBA - but brings ability to create her own shot - she can be a valuable role player.
