Seriously though what weird team. Also if the twins need a new athletic trainer I can't do any worse of a job.

Fun fact tonight that I hard and almost spit up my drink.

Since the crackdown on spidertac and other substances. Garret Richards curve ball is down 800 rpms. That's right Monster and FNG you have same curve ball as Garret Richards now. But hey putting stuff on the ball doesn't matter.

Ha, not to mention the bizarre numbers of no hitters already this season along with starters hitting below or just above the Mendoza line...the Twins started 3 players yesterday hitting less than .200. That's right...1/3 of their lineup was hitting under .200. A lot of people don't like Josh Donaldson (I always have kind of enjoyed him myself, even when he was beating up the Twins), but I admire him for not letting these pitchers get away with cheating. It's about time they got after these cheating pitchers.

By the way, Jose Berrios has always been high on my list of pitchers loading up baseballs...it's not natural the way his ball moves sometimes. It was pretty telling to me that he gave up 10 hits in only 5 innings yesterday with the umpires watching him closely. Berrios is a guy who just isn't going to be as effective in the new closely-monitored environment, and the Twins should be actively looking to trade him if they can get the right deal. Especially with this season clearly over.

Yeah the door is officially shut on this season for the Twins. Well really it was already shut but now it's dead bolted the chain is attached and a couple dressers have been pulled across it to be double sure. lol

Donaldson has provided some added entertainment in this lost season.

If there is a major crackdown on pitchers like we have seen...it's going to be difficult to assess pitching for a while. Maybe FNG is right maybe they should deal Berrios. The question to me is who else do you avoid? Will some guys adjust and still be reasonably effective? Are there guys that are gonna basically be worthless? Can the Twins be ahead of the curve in this new era?

How is Happ just so bad? He had 1 season with an ERA over 5 in a lengthy career and after another poor outing he era is back over 6.

Miranda had 2 more hits tonight for the Saints and he played 2b.

The real Kenya Maeda showed up yesterday. We need to get rid of that imposter that's been out there much of this season.

There is a report that the Mets are interested in Donaldson. As Gleeman mentioned in his article about guys that could be traded if the Twins have to pay too much in terms of salary they may as well just keep him as he would be a good player on a decent salary for what he brings unless there is some worthwhile prospects involved. The Twins are likely going to have to eat some salary if Donaldson is traded which would be fine with me. It will be interesting to see what the Twins do. Are they going to try and kinda run it back next year or do a more long term rebuild?

What was your favorite Matt Shoemaker moment?

Yeah, nice pickup in Shoemaker...meanwhile Kyle Gibson is going to the all-star game leading the league with a 1.98 ERA and 6-0!

I love Donaldson, but if a contender wants to overpay him and give us a couple prospects, I'd be happy to give Jose Miranda a shot at 3rd base the rest of the season. I also wouldn't be surprised if an AL team covets Cruz for the stretch run and gives us prospects...who knows, Cruz might just re-sign with us at the end of the season. I'd also move Berrios for the right price, but I would keep Rogers.

I loved seeing Maeda yesterday. I've thought for some time that he's a guy who succeeds without doctoring the ball...there's nothing goofy with his spin like there is with guys like Berrios. I look for location guys like Maeda to really thrive in this new world where the cheaters are no longer allowed to load up the baseballs. FNG bold prediction: if Maeda is healthy next season (he clearly hasn't been this season until yesterday), he challenges for the Cy Young award.

Gibson was bad last season. Will he keep up this success over a whole season? I'm a Gibson fan but the answer is probably not.

The next question is why did they let Rich Hill leave? I thought that was kinda weird maybe he retired. He signed with Tampa bay for 2.5 million and is having a nice season. Nobody saw Happ and Shomemaker being this bad and let's be honest the Twins could have spent more on guys that were supposed to be better and signed them for longer and...they could have also not worked out.

I'd let Miranda really succeed in AAA before I brought him up. The Twins have options of guys to play 3rd till that happens. Heck Sano can even play some innings there. I want Nick Gordon playing pretty often somewhere let's see what he can do.

Never understood releasing Hill...he's ageless and always effective when healthy.

Baldelli is playing Sano less and less...only 5 starts since June 22, and that's good. But he continues to play him against lefties even though Sano is seeing nothing but changeups from lefties and he can't hit a change up. His batting average against lefties this year is .179 with an OPS of .544...far worse than his numbers against RHP. I'm going to the game tomorrow and know that Rocco will start Sano against Carlos Rodon even though he's 1 for 16 lifetime against him with 10 K's! He could start Kirilloff at 1b instead...Alex has a double in two ABs against Rodon and is hitting .294 against LHP this season with an OPS of .857. It makes no sense to start Sano tomorrow night instead of Kililloff, but Rocco will.

I don't want to defend Rocco much at all with Sano but at this point he is in a bit of a tough spot. Is he supposed to never play him now? I don't know if playing him against left handed pitching makes sense though either. Trust me at this point I don't really care if Sano plays anywhere but they probably aren't gonna DFA him so he is on the roster still and will be in the lineup at times. Hopefully he can hit a couple HRs here and there to make the season somewhat enjoyable at times when he does play.

I know for fact that there was turmoil between Rich Hill and Management last year. He was very upset he was left off the playoff roster over Dobnak.

Also had dinner with a friend who still has some pull inside. He told the Rays are super interested in Buxton and Berrios. When I asked if Franco is on the table. He said nobody is untouchable.

I wonder if the rays would do Buxton Berrios and Duran or similar prospect for Wander.

We have to remember when trading Buxton or Berrios the twins need to get a year and half worth of value and the equivalent of first round pick because they will for sure offer both of them the qualifying offer.

You won't have to worry about Miguel Sano much longer. They see Killiroff as future twins first basemen. I put Sano being traded by deadline at 80% or put on waivers.
