I would think the ejection from the game when he did was figured into the punishment. I'm a little surprised there was no fine but I'm not gonna get too bent out of shape about it. I mean the money does go to charity and is tax deductible. Lol also 50k would be nothing as I would not be surprised if players would offer to chip in a few thousand to help pay for it. 50k is not a small amount of money but compared to his yearly salary (not including endorsements and other benefits) is such a small amount of money I don't think it's much of a deterrent. If anything it might make him more of a martyr/hero with his teammates etc.

Its obviously not the same but I mean if I elbowed my coworker in the throat and they sent me home for the rest of the day. Then the next day they told me I had to pay like a $200-$300 fine and then it would be over unless I did something else crazy, I would be like ok cool and move on with my life. If I had a really annoying coworker that might be a pretty good deal and might get some people sending me Venmo payments. Lol
It doesn't matter how minuscule the money is relative to the amount the players have, zero is still less than one and it probably rings pretty loud when you're someone like Edwards who has been fined how much for cussing?
The wolves don't need to come out like a goon squad and try to get a pound of flesh or whatever, but I hope this pisses them off and locks them in.

I hope Finch goes to Ant and tells him, "they all think he's their golden goose and are babying him in this. Go out there and shut them up, show everybody that your the best in the world"

I normally don't get into this, but it's honestly still pretty amazing how disrespectful the national coverage is of the Wolves. I remember after game 1, I listened to a national pod and they spend the first 10 minutes taking about Wemby's blocks and how he was 5 of 9 from 2 --- as in that wasn't somehow bad for a big man.

Everything about the Wolves is just about how scrappy they are and not how they might actually just be a good team whos been to b2b WCFs and is the door step to a 3rd.
Idk, it just wild how secondary the Wolves are ton everything else

I was curious if this was a flash in the pan reaction by Wemby or if it was built from multiple incidents in the game.
The only time I saw him take contact was the back and forth he had with Rudy where He Foulded Rudy and acted butthurt about it. He hit Rudy in the head and Rudy did his eyebrow raise reaction when he gets hit multiple times a game that we all see.
Yes Jaden got him on that play with an inadvertent elbow. But that was his immediate reaction to getting hit ONCE so far in that game was to lose his friggin mind.
The national narrative and his coach saying you gotta protect yourself if the Refs don’t….pure lazy gaslighting bullshit man. Wemby is the second MOST protected guy in the league. He is also a gangly spaZ that falls over his own feet more than he gets hit.

I've seen quite a bit... where people are whining about the physicality allowed on Wembanyama... like he's the only one.

The first 6 minutes of Game 5 will be highly intriguing.

Will McDaniels be watching most of them on the bench with two fouls? Will Wembanyama get three trips to line to kickstart a 15+ fta day? Or, will they just let them play as they have?

Who is officiating the game might be our first clue.

I think it’s gonna get extremely chippy. Teams gonna have the underdog chip/personal hate that comes from the media Staning for Wemby and just the bad blood in general that 4 straight games brings. I think it’s gonna be a fight and I take Wolves in a fight.

We had a Foster game and a Brothers game so far. I don’t know how the NBA ref assigning protocols work but if we could have anyone but those two involved I’d feel more comfortable

Lakers- Wolves clinch
Warriors- Wolves clinch
OKC- Thunder clinch

Wolves are 2 and 4 going into tomorrow night in game 5s. 0 and 2 however in game 5s that weren't elimination games

- Naz Reid. I posted something a couple weeks back about Naz making more than 5 shots in 2 of his past 18 playoff games. Well, that changed. He's done it in each of the past two games... and 4 of the past 7. He's hit at least 4 shots in all of them. He's been very consistent since midway through the Denver series, shooting 40 - 77 from the field (14.3 ppg) without any outlier games either way. Just solid. His Assist/TO ratio was also horrible in those previous 18 games when he had a negative Assist/To ratio. He's had 9 assists and only 1 TO the past two games. And 18 rebounds.

He's been really good. I also think he's working hard defensively. Oh... he also took a huge elbow, was icing his shoulder and twisted his ankle. Naz Reid.

- Some deja vu head-shaking watching Randle in this one. The bully ball. Then, he brings the ball low and it gets stripped. And his arms go up even though it's not really because he's clamoring for a foul call. He knows most of those strips are clean. Because the next repeat behavior is seeing his head drop just a bit before getting back into the play. Rinse. Repeat.

- Mike Conley is completely overwhelmed defensively by the Spurs guards. He's too small, too old. No chance defensively. BUT, he was needed tonight. He hit both of his threes in the 1st half. And while it was notable he played a lot less in the 2nd half, Finch went to him after the Spurs went on a 10 - 2 to go up 8 points midway through the 3rd quarter. The Wolves were a mess offensively. No rhythm. A lot of iso selfish basketball. So in comes the old guy to calm things down. And gets a crafty vet-inspired trip to the line to calm things down if just for a moment.

- Just three weeks ago, I had the thought... "Can the Wolves afford Ayo this summer?" Well, if people are only looking at this series where Ayo is incredibly tentative (very probably injury related), he'll be back at a decent price. His three-point play hinted at the fun Ayo though and was huge.

- Anthony Edwards is a bad man. Think about how we would have judged this game if it happened 3 or 4 years ago. It's one of the greatest playoff games in Wolves history. And yet, it wasn't shocking. We've seen Edwards do this stuff before. He's a legitimate star. The guy is obviously limited (c'mon FNG). And all he does is score 16 points on 75% shooting in the 4th quarter to lead his team back from 8 down. He was gassed by the end. But he got them there.

He takes dumb shots. He can try to do too much. He says dumb things. He makes mistakes. But... we put up with those things because he can also do this. Very very few players can do this.

Where is he on the list of clutch Minnesota athletes over the past 65 years? For Minnesotans, or Minnesota sports fans, it's not a great legendary list. But Edwards has shown the ability to be one of the ones we'll remember.
It's probably Puckett on the top line, then maybe even Ant next or another Twins player. I'm not even a baseball fan anymore, was a bit growing up, but still got to respect the clutchness of those teams.

If you randomly select an NBA player and he did what Wemby did and was ejected, does that player get off after that?

I almost agree with it. His elbow was a bit less pre meditated then those others, almost a basketball move. Lamelo has a history too which counts and was no where close to a basketball play. Jokic ran across the court. He could have thought twice on any of his twenty steps about what he was doing.

Not saying what Wenby did wasn't completely wrong. But I kind of think it was closer to in the flow of a normal basketball play. Guys throw elbows commonly, not like that for sure at a guys head. But it's not that abnormal to see elbows flying.

BTW those players who were accosted should be getting the fine money. How is it the owners/league jacks the money when they weren't the ones taking the punishment. I suppose it could look bad on the league, but really, I think it probably brings in eyeballs. It's probably a good thing for ratings most of the time.

Been, I listened to a Spurs pod today and they spent a lot of time on this. They were pissed at Vic for getting tossed, but agreed that it was necessary...they were even concerned it might be multiple games, but they dodged that bullet. They said things had been brewing between Naz and Vic ever since Naz pushed Vic in the back in game 1 and nothing was called.

Personally I don't care about a fine or not. but I'm all about getting to the next round, and I was kind of hoping they would suspend Vic for game 5. As I reviewed the history of penalties after an elbow to the face, and also considering Wemby isn't a repeat offender, I was pretty sure he would play Tuesday. It's going to be a physical game both ways I think, and we have to hope the refs let us play our game.
