So, bringing the Elon Musk discussion out of the basketball world and over to here...
I am a huge fan of Elon Musk and have followed him for many years. And that has nothing to do with his recent involvement with Trump and the whole DOGE effort. I see this is two completely separate topics:
1) Who is Elon Musk and how is he impacting humanity (excluding DOGE)?
2) What is DOGE and how is it going about it's business?
As for the first topic, I would think another person I admire, Stephen Hawking, would also be a huge Musk fan. One of Hawking's frequent themes was the need for humanity to become multi-planetary. Many, if not all, Musk's endeavors are steps needed to become multi-planetary.
As for the second topic, I support the concept. Some of the tactics seem a bit heartless, but I don't know what kind of alternatives exist to accomplish what DOGE has set out to do. So I put myself in the "wait and see" mode before formulating any conclusions...

100% agree Tim. I actually think a lot of people support the concept of #2 as well, but Musk certainly does himself no favors with the way he goes about things. He seems too divisive and has too many conflicts of interest to be in the role he's in, buuuuuuut.......given the nature of bureaucracy (it's self-propagating) and all of the entrenched interests that will fight tooth and nail to keep their pet agency or program in tact, may be a more ruthless approach is what's required. Thus, I'm in the wait and see camp as well.
Tough to see the perspective of people that are actively oppressing women and minorities while they try to dismantle social security and food stamps while my family uses those. But yeah maybe you’re right. Maybe it will be better when it costs twice as much and I have half the assistance. Maybe losing my home will help? Maybe my boss being held by ICE at an airport will make my job security better. Maybe being buddies with Russia is the way to go? I wonder what happened to the Jews who waited to see in 1935?
Really, man. It sounds like you watch too much MSNBC...
There is only one logical conclusion as to where we were headed in a world that prioritized equal outcomes. And it's funny you refer to your side as "the resistance". Because you are destined to become the Borg, where "resistance is futile..."
