I am still thinking of Rubio having LaVine, Wiggins, Shabazz, Brewer, and Budinger (if healthy) to throw lobs to. He is magic at seeing things before anyone else. We would have the team he would be able to setup.

Or teams just pack the paint and take away those lobs forcing that collection to make jump shots. Which could get reaaalll ugly

Then Wiggins and Lavine will just starting jumping over guys like Lebron over John Lucas. They both have unreal athleticism. Wiggins almost finished a ridiculous alley-oop attempt last night if the pass was on the mark. I don't know how easy it is to guard a pass if Ricky can put it almost at the top of the backboard considering those guys have the athleticism to bring that high of a pass down.

Team would need an enforcer. Someone that would man up when a team gives a cheap foul.

That's a litte silly, don't you think? Teams don't build effective half court offenses around lob passes, and those that are good at it, such as the Clippers, target bigs that play off the ball in screen and roll situations.

We aren't going to be a very effective half court offense if we can't knock down shots. To think that we can just play over the top of everyone with ease is pretty naive. I'm much more interested in whether these young guys (like Shabazz and LaVine) can knock down 3's than how high they can jump. Yes, converting lobs is exciting and revs up the team and fans, but you don't build an offense around it.

You are correct in that offense isn't built around wings trying to jump over people to make ridiculous lob attempt dunks, but it is an effective way to keep teams on their heals for fear of not staying in front of their man on the wing will result in a new poster hitting the shelves and closing out the top 10 plays. The lone 3 Wiggins hit last night was wide open and in rhythm. All accounts are that Levine also has deep range. Sounds to me like the only issue is consistency and if you can get them cutting to the rim like bandits, it's going to open up the 3 point line in the PnR when the defender is going to drop down to the rim to close the passing lane for Ricky on their cuts. The Clippers don't just lob the ball every time, but they use that ability effectively throughout the game to add to their offensive arsenal. Every down screen to the rim is going to involve the other team going under the screen and helping to prevent a lob which opens Wiggins and Lavine up for cutting back out to the 3 point line while the defender goes under the screen. It adds options to the offense which you want the most options available every play.

Don't disagree. All things being equal, I'd rather have an elite athlete than not. My point is that shooting trumps leaping ability. It's imperative in today's NBA to be able to space the floor. In fact, the most encouraging part of Wiggins' offensive potential is his shooting stroke. I think he'll have to make his living mostly off jumpers and basket cuts, because I don't see him having the ability to get to the rim consistently with the ball in his hands.

This is why I sort of miss Stiemsma. He had no problem just fouling guys and getting under people's skin. Hollins was sort of that guy too but he wasn't strong enough to really do anything.

This team may have alot of guys good at cutting to the basket for easy buckets and or getting getting lobs. Bazz Bud LaVine Brewer GR3 Martin Pek... Wouldn't it be nice to have a guy to space the floor for those guys and also be able to set them up for easy looks? That Kevin Love guy would be a great fit. LOL sigh.

I think Lavine, Wiggins, Shabazz, and Budinger all are or will be good enough shooter that need to be respected. I am just saying if you surround Rubio with players that can cut to the rim and finish. Rubio will find them.
