I like King and wanted to draft him. Rieff is a solid LT, but the idea of getting a proven corner and shedding $11M in capspace is very appealing.

I know you really like him. I'm curious What are you willing to pay him in a year? Sure I'd trade Reiff for him I suppose. Would the Chargers do that deal? I have no idea. I've heard they want to improve their oline but I'd think they could do something more exciting than trade a young DB for a decent LT for 11 million a year. What would you throw in (some sort of draft pick is what I'm thinking) to make it happen? Keep in mind if the Vikings wanted that cap space they would get in a trade they could just cut Reiff right now.

Sounds like King had a down year and they signed a nickel to replace him. I look at him as a possible Harris or Smith replacement in 2021.

I was thinking King had played some Safety in the NFL but I just looked at the snap counts and that doesn't look to be the case. Again I ask how much are you willing to pay...now that you say you want him to him to start at Safety In 2021?

I never looked but thought he was a safety in college.

Everything I can find suggests he was a 4 Year College CB and won the Thorpe award as the best BD playing that position In 2015. Some Draft sites had him listed as a Safety but it looks like that was because a some teams viewed him that way (Move him to that position) because he was good in zone is a good tackler and lacked speed etc. I was confused about this too. I have to view him as a CB at this point especially since he had plenty of success already at that spot.

Interesting. I feel like an FS and Nickel could be interchangeable. I would want my FS to be able to cover the slot. I think a SS should be able to cover TE's. Size matters more there in my eyes.

It will be interesting to see what role Kearse plays in Detroit. I think one of the values of Harrrison Smith and Anthony Harris is you can put them basically anywhere. They are effectively interchangeable and both are very good players. That's the guy people wanted next to Smith for years and we have him and have had him for most of 2 seasons. Having that level of Safety play...really um...makes the CBs that played for this team last season...seem expendable and the Vikings seemed to think so as well in one extent or another. It's also a knock against them that they basically didn't get those guys to a higher level but they moved on let's see when they do with this new group in addition to young guys they already have. I've heard From a couple media people that usually know What they are talking about that the Vikings are pretty high on Kris Boyd. Spielman seemed to say that as well was that around draft time? No idea I've lost sense of time. Lol

I forgot about Kearse. We have a good thing going at Safety for sure. Harrison Smith is getting up there in age and he might be a season or 2 away from falling off in production.

It would be great if Boyd and some of these younger DBs develop that are late-round picks. I think the defense will be fine. Zimmer seems to figure it out no matter what.

Any word on Cook?

I think one concern about all these new young guys is...typically it's taking younger guys a while to really get into the system. Maybe some of that was that Zinmer and the Vikings had a lot of depth. It seemed like the young guys when they came in performed well but didn't play a lot right away. Hughes seemed to play a lot quickly but then got hurt. Again it's REALLY interesting to me they moved on from Jerry Gray and got new DB coach. How will that play out?

As far as Cook? I've heard nothing but I haven't paid any attention. I still assume a deal will get done. How about that Pat Mahomes deal?

I have not looked into the Pat Mahomes deal much but heard only $140M was guaranteed. It was not shockingly big and I think it sets the market ceiling for other young guys to sign.
