I just hope Tibbs is thinking long-term, and not this year.
It's probably under a 5% chance of making the playoffs this year. And with a young team Top 3 scorers under 22 and the deepest draft in a decade, trading a young guy or pick for a veteran that might get us a few more wins this year would be stupid.

Welcome!
I don't disagree with you on the playoff chances, but the future is now in my opinion. I think it's the whole mentality behind making a playoff push that is just as important as whether we actually make it or not. If I'm a player on the Wolves right now, I believe there is a chance we can still make it. Nothing would disappoint me more than my coach pulling a soft tank and re-inforcing the losing culture that has been in place at this franchise for the past decade.

I am not sure I would include picks and Crowder for Jimmy Butler. He is good, but in some ways not that much better than Crowder. Having them both would be huge for Boston.
I would include pick (singular) and Crowder.
Butler is very very good.
Crowder is above average and on one of the best contracts in the NBA... but I don't think he's capable of making a leap into Butler territory where he could carry a team for stretches.
I agree, but a lineup with Thomas, Butler, Crowder, Horford, and Olynyk looks pretty good on paper. Better than Butler at SF and Bradley or Smart at SG. If I am the Celtics I am doing this to win the east. Not happening moving Crowder in my opinion. Not even sure if they do if he stays.

Mavs just got Noel for an Expiring. Smart play.
Edit: And a protected 2017 pick. Still a decent trade for them.

That is old news. We talked about that 2 pages ago.

Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart are both really good though. You'd be letting one mostly waste away by bringing in Butler.
Then again... if you could keep Crowder AND trade Bradley for a rim-protecting rebounding big...

How about this one:
MN Trades: Dunn/Lavine/2017 #1
Ind Trades: George
Not sure that gets it done, but I do it in a heartbeat.
Ricky / Wiggins / George / Dieng / Towns....love it! I believe we could also max someone like Millsap this summer and move Dieng to bench.

This is where the Lavine injury hurts, don't think teams are going to take the flyer on him now. George would be amazing on this team, like the idea though.

We can't trade our pick during the season until 2022
