The nuggets offensive really went stagnant in the 4th (kinda looked like how the wives get in when of game scenarios), but just insane shot making by Murray to sneak the win out. If the lakers had some depth, they could have buried Denver in that game.
I think a lot of the fouls Embiid draws are actual fouls, but what makes it frustrating and somewhat fraudulent is how he explicitly goes for the fouls by sweeping his shot motion up in an unnatural manner when a defender is in his grill.
Yes. Technically... Embiid is getting fouled, especially if you squint while watching it. And yes. Technically, Towns is fouling most of the time.

The rub is that there is just so much leeway in what is or isn't called based entirely on who the player is.

[Note: As Timberwolves fans, we probably shouldn't want officiating to change too much in the next few years. Edwards seems to be on a path to superstardom and with that will come favorable/biased officiating.]

Yeah, Ant seems to increasingly get the benefit of the doubt on both ends of the court, although the "Wolves discount" does come up from time to time still. What I like is that he doesn't rely too much on chicanery to draw fouls. It's the baiters that end up struggling more in the playoffs because the officials swallow their whistle. Trae Young, James Harden, Embiid, and hopefully we see SGA get a less generous whistle as well. He's also a big push-off guy like Booker which I doubt they start calling.

Just saw Ingram elbow sga to the face on his drive to the hoop and get a technical. Seem to recall our game Conley getting drilled much harder by Booker and nothing. Hate the inconsistency of these types of calls. Just garbage.

Embiid has to decide ( as a 7ft 280 lbs center) if he wants to continue chasing fts by throwing his enormous body to the floor for 8 more points a game is more important than staying upright, playing elite defense and offense a full season and playoffs. People want to make excuses for Philly and him because he’s always injured. But maybe he’s partly responsible for that. Win a ring first and then maybe you’ll get a pass like Leonard continues to get now.

Yes. But Grayson Allen has a stellar track record of a good sport.

Or something.

I went directly to his twitter as soon as I saw DLo's box score...it's always a rich experience for an amateur psychologist. DLo has had a very good season...certainly his best. And I was starting to think he had finally grown up and left his immaturity behind. But the video of him pouting on the bench during a critical game and not joining his teammates in the huddle shows he's still the same guy.

But of course it was Ham's fault.

Embiid is the poster child for inequitable and arguably corrupt officiating in the NBA. He gets away with more than any player I’ve even seen - even more than LeBron in his prime. He had 21 trips to the line last night. While I didn’t watch the game last night, I suspect that many of those trips were on calls no other player in the League would get. But even worse is what the officials typically let him get away with. He absolutely should have been ejected for what’s caught on that video.

There are only two playoff teams I wholeheartedly root against and hope to fail. One is the Lakers because they’re the Lakers. The other is the Sixers - because of Embiid.

Lip, I didn't watch the whole game, but I did watch a good chunk of the second half. I'd say every foul he drew was legit. He is an absolute master at rising up in his shot motion the second someone decides to get up in his grill. Most "normal" players would try to get around the defender if they didn't give any space, but he's just like screw it, I'm just going to go up for a shot even though there is no room to do so. He then proceeds to make contact with the body or arms of his defender and - voila! - it's a foul. That combined with his sheer size and strength make him a real handful to contain.

All of that being said, even if they are technically by-the-book fouls, it's the motive that is infuriating. He'll go up for shots with the sole purpose of drawing a foul versus actually thinking he has a decent shot (similar to a rip through move). Then he forces the refs into a tough spot.
