Agreed. I looked it up and it seems pretty reasonable to me.
It's a bit amusing how many people got fooled by that fake story about Mahomes saying he wouldn't sign a deal until the Chiefs changed their name.

Oh, man. Not sure if I want to go there, but we need to change the name of Lincoln. NE too. It is so offensive. How about Huskerville, NE?

Not everyone likes that Nebraska is all Huskers all the time. Lol I'm cool if they want to change Columbus NE to something else. Also I'd be quite happy if they changed the Washington NFL team to a different name. That one IMO seems the worst of the pro teams. I thought Dan Snyder would have to die for that even to be considered changed. I need to get myself a Fighting Artichokes sweatshirt while I can still get them. :)

My good friend is 50% Native American and he loves the Redskins. He doesn't want it changed. The Viking name is not much better when you think about who they were as people. (Buccaneers, Cowboy, and Raiders too.)

I'd be curious to hear why he likes the Redskins name. I'm honestly trying to hear various perspectives on a lot of topics. Personally I'm more interested in systemic changes than something like a team name which feels like something that might be championed but doesn't really make a significant difference in day to day life. I don't think it's meaningless though.
In actual historical did Cowboys themselves do anything that would approach the violence of Vikings Raiders or Buccaneers? It seems their name got appropriated as something (Cowboys and Indians) that is probably more fiction than fact? Weren't there Cowboys of various cultures?

He really embraced being different. He looked at Redskins as a kickass team growing up in the 80s. He also was very glad not to be living on a reservation and being a blend of cultures.
Cowboys in Hollywood was different than Cowboys in real life. I think they were criminals for the most part at least that is what you saw in the Wyatt Earp movies.

Thanks for the response. What I read Washington is having a something more of a conversation about what to do with the name. That seems better to me than what Dan Snyder said before which didn't seem to really acknowledge what the other sides position. I read an article a while ago after they said they were going to actually look at the name that had some interesting ideas that I hadn't considered before. I wasn't sure if I was comfortable with all of them but it's ok to not be comfortable.
If (In theory not supporting the idea) we are going to get rid of Vikings etc...let's get rid of the Patriots too. There is plenty of blood and oppression on the hands of this country from the beginning right?
It can be worthwhile sometimes to really think about the origins of things AND what they have come to mean now as well as anything in between. I'd like it if Zimmer would refrain from using the phrase "Go off the reservation" although I'm quite positive he is not intending to mean anything derogatory towards anyone in terms of Native Americans. Words and phrases matter but IMO we can't get so bogged down with those things that we keep from speaking or allow others to speak especially when it comes to what we or others are really intending to say. Thanks for the dialog Bleed I appreciate it.

I was thinking about the Patriots and Texans too.
They talked about the Blackhawks this AM on KFAN. It doesn't seem like they ever get mentioned in this. That reservation comment is interesting. We all get offended by something that might not offend others. "White Privilege" gets under my skin. My wife was complaining about the water in our new house being brown recently. The city has a water issue for sure, but I told her she is using her "Yellow Privilege" and we always joke that I think all white people look the same because I can't remember anyones name or half the time even remember what they look like.
Off subject? Any idea what they build at the Kawasaki plant in Lincoln near the airport? I thought I heard it was Jet Ski's.

At Kawasaki it's a variety of things. I know at one point they built parts of train cars. If I heard right they actually do some supplying to Honda as well. There is a lot of interesting smaller manufacturing that goes on here in Lincoln. There small metal manufacturer that supplies Harley parts. One place makes the chargers and some other parts for Ez-Go Golf cars. Another place does all kinds of small electrical parts for Ford and other manufacturers. Most of these I know about because I worked on site in one role or another in the past. Otherwise I would probably have no idea.

It is interesting how much of this stuff happens. There is a lot of medical and military manufactures in TC metro area.
