Interesting tidbits.
What I don't get is where the Cavs are going to come up with these magical contracts to send out to take on Love's salary PLUS other players.
Maybe they're hoping to trade up 1 or 2 of their min salary guys. They also have something like 1.4 mill in cap space right now. So they could trade their 2 guys at 816k for someone making just under 3.8 mill. (816 + 816 + 1.4m x 125% = 3.79 mill) Granted I rounded a bit. Maybe they flip Haywood for someone at 2.75 mill giving them an extra 500k. Seems like a lot of finagling to me lol, but who knows.
I like how you tried! Lol that article mentions Love Barea AND Martin without double checking that's like 27 million of contracts for this season. That's a ton of money I don't see how the Cavs pull that off. Its stuff like this that makes me doubt a lot of these reports they don't make sense.

Thanks for posting. I'm not sure why Flip would be so intent on trading Kevin Martin as part of the Love deal unless we are getting Waiters in return. And I just don't see the Cavs including Waiters. Nor do I see the Wolves insisting on Waiters. I don't see why Flip would be so intent on including JJ Barea in our outgoing package since his salary isn't that big and, more importantly, his contract expires the end of this season. The guys I'd be shopping just to get rid of their contracts would be Martin, Luc MM, Brewer and Budinger.
Martin has the worst contract of these four, but he may be the most valuable to us given our lack of three-point shooting, especially if we trade Love for a Wiggins/Bennet package. And seeing the contracts being given around the League this summer, Martin's contract doesn't looks quite as bad as it did. I also think a guy like Martin is very tradeable around the Feb. trade deadline when teams in the mix try to add a missing piece they believe they need to fill to compete down the stretch. A veteran shooting specialist like Martin would be that type of player.
I like Corey a lot, but he just wouldn't fit well on a team like the post-Love Wolves who are seriously deficient in the 3-point shooting department. Moreover, while I like Corey's energy and ability to disrupt the opposing team's offense and generate turnover, he's not a good on-ball defender and often gets overpowered by opposing SFs or out-quicked by opposing SGs.
Moute is a very good multi-position defender, but he's an absolute zero on the offensive end. His complete ineptitude on the offensive end makes him a net liability and not worth a roster spot.
Budinger's value really hinges on the health of his sugerically repaired knee. If sound, he's the guy I'd most like to keep. His annual salary isn't terrible and he's still young. While not a good defender, he's not a terrible defender like Martin. He's a good, not great, 3-point shooter who also excels at moving without the ball and cutting to the basket. He's also a very good athlete with nice hops. But if there are any lingering questions about his knee, then I'd want to move him.
Bottom line is that all these guys are expendable as part of reshaping the roster in the post-Love era. If we do end up getting Wiggins, Bennett and change, the team will likely be built around Wiggins, LaVine, and Rubio at the core with Shabazz and Bennett as candidates to fill out the core.

Monster -- Yes, you do have to wonder about a lot of these reports. Generally, I've found that many reports contain good, accurate information, but they are imprecise. My sense is that the article accurate named the Wolves players who are in play, but imprecisely suggested or implied that they would ALL be moved as part of a deal. I could see one of them being moved (maybe 2) if a third team is involved.

lol right. I'm thinking the article was more so saying the Wolves want to unload those 2 contracts in a deal for Love, but they wouldn't necessarily need to go to CLE which could be why they are looking for another team & contracts. I'd think they are attacking this from both a 3 team deal scenario & one where they flip lesser assets for bigger expiring contracts.

I've always thought a 3rd team was going to have to be involved even if Wiggins was signed and if Flip is moving another player like JJ and/or Martin that means it has to be the case. Anyone wanna look on hoops hype and see what non-guaranteed contracts are out there? Internet is slow here. Lol
I still don't get moving Martin but I've also got the idea in my head that if Flip deals Love he has some other move or moves he can make.

Philly's gonna get involved somehow. Two of our expirings (Barea, Mbah a Moute) and a 1st rounder from CLE going to Philly for Thad Young.

I'd have no problem throwing in Shabbazz, but Lip you seem convinced, Flip won't do that. Well, if Cleveland needs a wing from us Budinger, Hummel or Martin wouldn't be greatly missed and in Martin's case he probably adds too much salary to be made part of the deal. After GR3, I'd next prefer to hold onto Brewer, but I wouldn't be too upset if he's traded.
Let's not make the mistake other fan bases do with overvaluing our players. I'd give up GR, GR2, and GR3 for Waiters. Probably GR2 and GR3 for Bennett

I think by the fact the big boy writers (Stein,Woj) and talking about it, really says it's heating up. Does anyone here know what it's like to be on the winning side of a deal for once? I think of it like rolling around with a dozen puppies

I'd much rather have GRIII on his contract over Bennett on his No. 1 overall pick contract. I know that's not the popular opinion, but I have serious concerns about Bennett.

Woj and Stein are the most credible writers, in my opinion, so yeah this is a big deal.
