Interesting thought, Cam. I'd be more inclined to consider this one if Butler had signed the extension he was just offered. But it's not as attractive to me if Butler leaves as a FA next summer, which I'm convinced he will.

Buddy Hield's monthly 3P% in a Kings uniform:
2016-17
March: 42.5% / 2.3 - 5.4
April: 47.4% / 3.0 - 6.3
2017-18
October: 22.6% / 1.0 - 4.4
November: 58.3% / 2.3 - 4.0
December: 45.9% / 2.3 - 4.9
January: 38.0% / 1.9 - 5.1
February: 41.2% / 2.5 - 6.2
March: 43.2% / 2.6 - 5.9
April: 52.4% / 2.2 - 4.2
Aside from those seven games in October, Hield has been a consistently elite three-point shooter in the NBA since being traded to Sacramento. Keep in mind that the league average for 3P% last season was 36.2% and Hield's shot 43.0% (235-546) in 105 games with the Kings. He's a legitimate flamethrower from deep already.

Buddy Hield doesn't become a RFA until 2020-21, assuming he doesn't take the qualifying offer of $6.5M, which he won't. The Wolves would have two seasons of Hield before having to make that decision. If Victor Oladipo could only command 4/84 during the cap inflated summer, and Aaron Gordon can only command 4/80, and Zach LaVine can only get 4/78, then your assumption of 4/120 is way off, in my opinion.
Wiggins' 5/147 deal looks worse and worse every day.

I knew Hield's 3-point shooting was good last season, but I didn't know it was that good. Wow. That's truly elite. You might recall that Hield was my first choice for the Wolves in the 2016 draft, followed by Murray and then Dunn. I forgot to include passing on Hield and Murray in my missed opportunities list.

Lol, the bucks didn't pull Jabari qo as originally reported. I wonder if the bulls only gave 2 years because they thought he was unrestricted.
Bucks can now match a more manageable contract or get something from the bulls in a s&t.

4/80 where few teams had space. In 2 years with the rising cap, I just assume more teams will have space after those ridiculous signings in 2016 expire.

I'd do this trade regardless of the Jimmy Butler situation, honestly. I think it makes the team better now and in the long-term as I believe that Hield is already a better player and fit than Wiggins, and I think he's going to get closer to his ceiling than Wiggins will despite Wiggins having more potential. Potential means little if you believe a player won't come anywhere near reaching that peak.
PS: The Wolves currently sit at $121,734,381 in cap allocations for 2018-19 after signing Derrick Rose, Anthony Tolliver, Josh Okogie, and Keita Bates-Diop, according to Spotrac. That means we are $1,998,619 below the 2018 Luxury Tax threshold of $123,733,000 while having three roster spots available. After this hypothetical trade, Minnesota would sit at $104,898,090 with two available roster spots for the upcoming season. While we still wouldn't have cap space this summer, we would however have the money to use the rest of the MLE ($2,052,536) and the BAE ($3,382,000) to round out the roster and avoid the luxury tax.
Perhaps more importantly, Minnesota would have incredible cap flexibility next summer when there are plenty of impactful free agents available.

Buddy for Wiggins is just a bad panic trade to try to give us one skill we lack in 3pt shooting. Wiggins is better Jimmy insurance and he was starting to put it together defensively last year so I would expect him to make a jump on that end. Then you bring up his shooting percentages a little bit after a really down year and you have someone significantly better than Hield. Hield getting ousted in the starting lineup by Temple is all you need to know about him. He couldn't start for the 7th worst team in the league. Just more stat guys on bad teams. Yet for some reason Wiggins stats only matter when he's the 3rd or 4th option and people forget what he was putting up as a top 2 option which he would be again if Jimmy left.

This is an interesting trade Cam. Here are my thoughts.
1. I also share the concern that getting back Buddy means you lose some of the theory of having to big wing defenders with Butler and Wiggins paired. It's not a deal breaker but something I consider.
2. This is a ton of money to dump. If the Kings would take that one wow it's hard not to consider it. Dumping Dieng's money is a pretty massive part of this deal...which might be a problem.
3. Maybe I'm being greedy but maybe we can get another young player in that deal like Skal or Justin jackson.
4. If you don't feel good about Wiggins being a star or much of an above average player than this trade looks good. This is another deal that makes me consider how strongly ai feel about Wiggins. I still have hope for him and it looks like he isn't going anywhere but it's interesting. Hopefully we see him take another step...or maybe we have the answer if he isn't and the Wolves can find a deal like the ones you have proposed to move on.

Bucks rescinded qo again.
Its official; jabari is the new sf for the bulls. 2nd year is a team option.
