Come on Lakers quit melting down and win this
And they did, forcing a game 5 in Denver.
And I've turned 180 degrees on Russell after his shameful behavior on the bench two nights ago...Ham should have benched his ass tonight. But of course is there anything more DLovian than scoring 21 points in a meaningless game after laying an egg in a critical game.
(And yes, Game 4 is meaningless when you're 0-3...no team has ever come back from 0-3 to win. The Suns may beat the Wolves tomorrow. but that will be meaningless also)
I’m about to put you in a mental pretzel here FNG. Dlo for the series is a +15. The only lakers starter who is not negative. He has been the Lakers top +\- player in 2 of the 4 games and top 2 in 3 of the 4.
So with that said I want you to admit Dlo has been a winning player this series or I want you to admit single game +\- is a terrible stat. ADMIT IT FNG ADMIT IT!!!!!!! Haha
Bazinga!!!!!! This stat makes no fing sense in small batches.

All right...we haven't had a good +/- discussion since Cam left (Cam was the guy who was angry when we drafted Ant instead of Wiseman, and who really got pissed off and left the board when we destroyed the team by trading Dlo for Conley and NAW).
I agree that +/- is meaningless, UNLESS...you are a big fan of outscoring your opponent. We're all products of our environment, and I admit my fondness for that stat is because both my high school and college coaches stressed it. I remember my high school coach saying "Most guys can tell you at any time in the game how many points they have scored...I want you to know at any time what your +/- is.". And I did. There were times I would get pissed off because a teammate was jacking up wild shots and not playing defense, and we would get outscored on my shift. But generally if my time on the court was positive, I felt pretty good about mu performance...regardless of how many points I had scored.
So a healthy argument is fun, but what's more important to me is that two guys who are really important in my life right now are big +/- guys...Ant and Finchie. Countless times I've heard Ant post game say things like "look at my boy Conley...he was a +24 tonight". (and don't we love how Ant seems to enjoy talking about his teammates after games rather than himself?). And just last week when asked about NAW, Finchie pointed out how valuable he was. He said (paraphrasing) "NAW missed his first 5 shots, but Micah leaned over to me and told me that he was still a +8 in his first 10 minutes...that's what NAW does".
Look, any stat can be picked apart...especially in a small sample size... but we all have favorites that help us understand a player's value. Kek started this discussion because DLo led the Lakers in +/- in a couple games, and I thought DLo looked very good in this series until his phone incident game (where he was a -6 by the way). Some guys look mostly at points per game, but we all know a guy can score a lot of points and still have a crappy game if he doesn't score efficiently and plays crappy defense. So for me, on/off stats are one of my 3 or 4 go to stats when evaluating a player's true value to a team. But I certainly understand why other fans look first at other stats.

So you admit if Dlo didn’t have to play with negative playoff players in Lebron and AD the lakers would win this series.
I’m just giving you shit FNG by the way. I just knew I could get you going. I know your hatred for Dlo (some of it what is deserved) and your love for +\- would put you in a mental pretzel. Once again I think single game +\- is a dumb stat because context matters so much to it but overall wanted to needle you a little bit.

I learned a long time ago that you're too smart a guy to argue with, Kek! Like I said, I'm mostly angry with myself for drinking the D'KoolAid and entertaining the idea that he finally might be living up to his enormous potential. He had some good games during the regular season and this series, but to quote Denny Green, "He is who we thought he was".

I recognize that many here are firm against cheering for the Lakers, but a Laker win moves our Game 1 in the next round to Monday rather than Saturday...gives Ant, SloMo and Finchie a couple more days to heal up. Unfortunately our boy DLo is doing his best to not make that happen. He's missed his first two threes, and has allowed Murray (battling a calf strain) to score all of Denver's points against him. Still, Lakers are up 11-6 with AD looking really good.
Go Lakers!

KCP limping to the locker room. Okay, we don't cheer for injuries, but any advantage we can get against Denver we'll take.

One of the benefits of sweeping a series is that by playing the absolute minimum number of games possible, you also reduce your risk of injury. So that's on Denver for not closing out a couple nights ago. And don't forget they played us last year with Naz and Jaden out! No tears shed here, that's for sure!

Yes he is...never would have expected that from a 30% 3-point shooter in college. Jaden will be on him next week, right? That will mean a lot fewer open looks.

The worst defender on a team shouldn't be the guy pointing where everyone else should be
