I'm hoping we trade 31 for a 2027 first, that will open up 3 picks to be traded for our inevitable move for Giannis

I like the pick a lot since we got Rudy, we likely / hopefully won't need to count on him at all for a couple years. Should he surprise heavily to the upside sooner then we could even move Rudy too before his contract is up.

Just maybe he develops a 3 as well. He looks more fluid then Rudy with at least a decent looking midrange/FT now. So that would be super nice, if he could shoot a corner 3 that is.

I wonder what his drive is, just happy to be in the NBA or want to be a great player and win at all cost? That's the unknown without interviewing these guys. I think the motivation is the biggest factor wether guys get good to great.

I almost think you need more! The thing with 31 is, it's super low risk. A late 1st pick, if missed simply becomes a guaranteed contract you don't want. I almost like it more if TC has an overseas youngster who might come over in a year or two better. Let him grow a bit and then see if he's ready to rock.

My first thought is that the likely outcome is the opposite of anything Doogie says.

More seriously, the problem with trading for a future lottery protected 1st is that, if it ends up a lottery pick, it will probably convert to a couple second round picks the next year with minimal value. Whether to trade the pick isn't an abstract decision at this point. The Wolves front office knows who's available. It seems to me that, if they really like a player on the board now, they should take him rather than trade it for an unknown pick of unknown value two years from now. However, if TC doesn't have a strong affinity for any of the guys on the board, then trading out for a future pick makes sense. Of course, there's always the offer you can't refuse. If a team is willing to give us an unprotected (or let's say top 4 protected) pick for #31, I'd probably grab it unless I was absolutely convince Fleming or some other guy on the board now has a good chance of becoming an Allstar.

Maybe even maybe top 10 or 12 protected. If you can move a 31 into the mid teens the next year then that sounds great to me. It is all about who TC likes or doesn't really like on the board, plus you could maybe factor in the strength of next years draft/years after a bit as well, though I think that is pretty tough to gauge.

I do kind of like stashing a guy though too, that just takes a year off of development for Ant's prime, should that player turn out that is.

You might be able to convince Penda to stay overseas for a year or two.

You might be able to convince Penda to stay overseas for a year or two.

Don't know who that is as I've done almost no research into this years crop but sounds good to me.

I'll trust in TC at this point as he's proven to me to be competent and knowledgeable enough to make the right choices. I've liked the moves he's made since he's been here so I just roll with whatever he decides now. I don't think though that trading the 31 pick in this years draft for what could end up being a late 20's in next years is compensation enough though. Probably need another second rounder on top in this years to make it worth it.
