Exactly this. Given the instability and immense losing he's had much of his career in Minnesota, it's a wonder that he's signed not one but two extensions to stay here.
It's the KAT-isms and such that restrict him from being the top dog on a contender and maximizing his generational skill set, but that does not mean that he can't be a 1B or really good number 2 on a winner.

Right, if this truly becomes Ant's team, then the KAT drama will invoke some eye-rolls and not much else. We don't want him at the center of things - both literally and figuratively.
IMHO Towns problem with just about everything we see is he tries too hard. If he isn't at games it's unlikely because he is being some sort of dick not showing up to games or whatever.
Towns does annoy me sometimes and he has said some things in the past with his victim mentality that really pissed me off. However there are a lot of things that he does or doesn't do that aren't pointed out. I'm not saying we shouldn't point out his annoying flaws and only celebrate the good stuff but sometimes the good stuff about Towns gets lost. I get it but it also kinda sucks.

Still no timetable for a return."
Boy, I'm starting to worry we won't see KAT this season. Gotta be killing him.
On the plus side, nice to see the team starting to gel a little bit. A KAT injury like this to last years team would have meant the season was over.
SD, I mentioned this in the GDT. I think it's disgraceful that KAT has not been with the team. Prince and JMac know what being a good teammate means, and they were there cheering on their boys. Finchie tried to cover for Absent KAT with the weakest-ass excuse ever! But what is he supposed to say? "KAT's not here because he cares more about his girlfriend than this team." Disgraceful.
That said, I have great hopes for this team, and I want 40% 3-point shooting KAT back as soon as possible. His 3-point shooting gives us better spacing and opens up the lane for Ant. And his rebounding and defense are far superior to Naz/Knight/Garza. We're good now, and we will be much better when he comes back.
And I think he will be back. Everything on the internet says a Grade 3 calf strain takes 2 to 3 months to return, and that would mean he's back sometime between today and the end of March. It may turn out to be the end of March (with Prince back this week and JMac back mid-March) but what an addition those three guys will be!
Meanwhile, I'm sending thoughts and prayers to KAT as he endeavors to keep his leg in the right position...
To be fair... it's not unique to Towns that he's not at every game during an extended injury.
And I've seen him on the bench quite a bit... I'd presume more than many other stars around the league in the same position.
[Note: Although, I'd feel guilty as heck if I was making $40M or whatever and just had to show up on the sidelines a couple or 3 times per week.]
Kat also from his twitch stream says he is back in a boot for the first time since the beginning of an injury. Dude has been so many games and tweets support for the team and Ant nightly. Let the big fella rest that calf. Think the "bad teammate" thing is over brown
Wait, what? Ugh. Forget all the character and personality debates, this is really bad news, right? It's been two months and he's now back in a boot?? Anybody here a physical therapist or orthopedist? That really sounds like the sort of thing that we can't expect him to return from for at least another couple of months at best, right? Man, for all the legitimate gripes we may have about him, we really don't stand much of a chance in the playoffs without him, assuming we can hang on and get there.
Yea that doesn't sound good regarding KAT's injury. I guess calf injuries are more serious in basketball than a lot of other sports. You can only trust the professionals around KAT, but that could be season ending if he's re aggravated it. Just wish more info was released to the media about it.

Spot on, Q. We've all known for some time that KAT wasn't going to be our #1 if we're going to be a true title contender. It's all about Ant right now. He looks like a #1 to me. If so, then KAT is a heck of a #1B or #2.
