He only played 21 minutes. Is the handwriting beginning to emerge?
That group with Rivers, Nowell, Prince, Garza, and Anderson (I think that was the group) was just awesome. Things could have easily gone south during that stretch, but those guys played with a lot of heart.
This is a night where having 5 Centers signed paid off. Our 3rd and 4th string Centers were awesome!

Connelly deserves some of the criticism he gets for the overpay of gobert (gobert was very good tonight) but Connelly did have some very good moves. Slow Mo fantastic, Prince was a UFA who he got to come back, rivers is with more than the min and Garza is a damn good 2-way contract guy.
Connelly deserves blame for sure but he gets credit on those moves.

Agreed. He also nailed the Kessler pick (doh!), which is kind of cringe-worthy in hindsight given how good he's been, but it does support his rep as a great drafter. Can't wait for the summer of 2024, LOL!

Exactly right Kek. Slow-mo wa is a great fit and Prince was a must after losing so much toughness.

As a frequent critic of Connelly for the Gobert deal, I have to agree with you on giving him credit where credit is due. In fact, I've mention several times in prior posts that I've been impressed by his eye for young talent - drafting Kessler and Minot, signing Garza - as well as his decision to sign Slo Mo.
Watching the replay. Ant just totally shut down Mitchell once Jaden went out with 5 fouls. Nice to see him show that lockdown ability. If only he can do it when there is some no one out there.
- Kekgeek has to find a new narrative (at least for a night). The Wolves played excellent defense in that second half. And all of it was without Gobert.
- Speaking of guys not playing... there's been a lot of writing on the wall regarding D. Russell lately. And tonight was extremely telling. Now, we'll hear the tale about Russell being cool with it and Finch staying with the hot hand. BUT... $30M players aren't brought back from the scorer's table often. Not in that situation. For those who think Russell is the anti-christ, I think you'll have to find a new whipping boy. It might not be this season (he's still valuable to this team). But I think the situation is coming to a head.
- Luka Garza has scored 65 points in 84 NBA minutes. That's crazy good. And he hasn't been exposed on defense too bad... yet. I don't know where his career goes from here, but there's something in his future. If nothing else, he'd be the greatest semi-pro player or YMCA player in the history of basketball. The guy just knows how to play.
- For all his struggles and for how much most of us have hated his game this season... good for Nowell. He acknowledged that he's sucked this season and things are "not going well," so I dig him a bit more for being self-aware and continuing to battle.
- The Wolves need Gobert to return very soon. BUT... Naz Reid is definitely the best 3rd string center in the league. The guy is making himself some money this season. Good for him.
- It was fun to watch Rubio and Love back on the court together in MN. As a bonus, we don't have to argue here whether Rubio with a 7/4/8 line had a better game than Love with 34/15/5. They both sorta sucked.
- 26/6/7... just another star-like game for the Timberwolves young star. When he finally starts getting THAT whistle... watch out. Maybe he doesn't play the game the right way when it comes for angling for calls. But I expect him to figure it out sooner than later.
- McDaniels doing McDaniels type things... fouling a lot and just playing solid D against whoever he has to man up against.
- The bench won this game. Kudos all around.
- Good win for the Wolves considering Towns, Gobert and Russell combined for only 33 minutes vs. one of the league's better teams.
- The Cavs were at the end of a 5-game road trip and Mitchell was under the weather... but who cares. A win is a win. Playoff teams find ways to win those games, so good for the Timberwolves.

Agree with everything you said in this post. To go along with my narrative wolves without Gobert or Mcdaniels on the floor this year are giving up 120.4 pts per 100 possessions (7th percentile).
Massive props to everyone involved for playing fantastic 2nd half defense. Also hopefully this is the confidence they need on that end to show they can play very good defense when they outwork the other team.
