Beat the Knicks tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden and let's retest going above .500 against the struggling Hawks in Atlanta on Wednesday. That will also be a homecoming of sorts for Anthony Edwards so be ready for a big night for him. Hoping for a good week of basketball!
Re: Wiggins v Dlo
As we like to say around here, EVERY win is a GREAT win for this team, doesn't matter if we're playing 5th graders or a severely hobbled Golden State team. This goes back to not tanking at the end of last season. Just keep trying to win games and change the culture....
- We were lucky we didn't get a revenge game from Wiggins. He looked a lot like the guy that couldn't impose his will while with Minnesota. Definitely a nice complimentary piece for Golden State.
- We were also lucky that they are still easing Klay Thompson back into the fold. You could see flashes of his old self, but he's just not totally fit yet.
- Nice to see Beasley break out like that. He really helped us turn the game around in the 3rd. Can he keep it up now or does he follow it up with two or three duds in a row?
- Nowell picked up where he left off. Man, he is becoming a really nice player off the bench and makes an Edwards, PBev, or DLO injury a little less daunting to work through. The fact he can competently play either guard position, create his own shot, AND protect the ball and make good decisions makes him a very valuable asset for us.
- Looney is one of these guys that knows how to be a really physical defender without drawing fouls. It's a real artform and something we haven't seen much around Minnesota from its bigs over the past few years (may be Gibson to a degree and Ed Davis too, but Davis hardly played).
- Vando and Russell are really perfecting that slip-screen move. If you know how to roll to the hoop, whether off a slip or a real screen, DLO will get you the ball.
- 4.5 games above the 11th place team, so still firmly in good position for the play-in tourney.
Go Wolves!

Pretty cool video from Alan Horton. 30 mins after they were locker room Ant came out and was working on his 3pt shot.
I can't help but love this man he's everything I wanted Wiggins to be. You never know if he will hit that next level but God damn it isn't going to be because of the mental side of trying to be great.

This is why I'm on the trade for a wing at deadline side. This is what happens if we had consistent Beasley this year. The problem him is you don't know which guy is going to show up.
Even something lesser like a deal to acquire Robert Covington or Doug McDermott could be huge for this team.
That's what I want to see, Cam. We don't need a big deal and wouldn't want to see the Wolves deal Beasley at the deadline unless it landed Barnes without giving up McDaniels or a future first. In other words, I want to see this front office go out and get Covington or even McDermott. I'd have a strong preference for Covington. I think he'd be a perfect fit here.

Kudos to you guys for hanging in there and watching this game. I bailed out when the two teams were a combined 5-30 on threes...unwatchable! It looked to me like neither team was interested in winning. Golden State especially looked like they just wanted to get on the plane and go home after a long road trip, and other than KAT and Jaden, I thought we looked uninspired in the first half. But I just finished a box score review and it looks like, uncharacteristically, the bench put the starters on their back and won this game...good to see! We need the bench to be better, and it looks like they were tonight.
Despite the terrible shooting while I was watching, there were a couple things that caught my eye. DLO's pocket passing keeps getting better...love how he finds Vando cutting to the basket! I thought Jaden's defense was elite tonight...not at all surprised he was a team-leading +27 in 21 minutes! KAT played hard, but his whining was another reason I left this game early.
I agree that any win is a good win when you're a fringe playoff team. But how long is our incredible injury luck going to last? We're 100% healthy (although Nowell says his ankle isn't fully healed), and tonight we faced a team missing 4 key players. Now we go to NY to face a team on the back end of a back to back that will be missing Rose, Walker, Noel and Reddish. Then on to Atlanta to face a team missing its 3rd and 5th leading scorers and its best rebounder. Finally we get the Nets without Durant. We can only hope that this luck continues, but it also would ne nice to see this team beat a healthy team!

I'll take wins if they are against a team made up of only replacement players. There will be time enough to find out how good this team is or isn't.
One of the questions that will be interesting to see if it can be answered is whether Nowell has been that other versatile right side of "combo guard" the Wolves have mostly been missing for like a decade. Some guys that have come through may have been ok/good in that role but some of them had to play something above what they had to. It sounds like Nowell is doing better at playing a PG role than expected. That's a big deal. I saw in the highlights he had a couple impactful defensive plays.
