I am totally blanking right now but has faired ever played with a good point guard. I just remember him dominating on team USA when he could just rim run and catch lobs off PnR.
In theory faired should be more of a force on the offensive boards with the wolves because if you run a PnR with ricky and towns that takes away the focus off faired defender making it easier for faired get in to great offensive rebounding position. Sort of like what Thompson does for the cavs so much focus is left on other player he can focus on rebounding. In a vacuum I think they are both overvalued but in the right context faried would be awesome

Most of his career he played with Ty Lawson.

I agree. Seems to me the key is whether there is a draft prospect who Denver covets but who the Wolves or Pelicans would take and keep. Otherwise, I don't see why Denver would do the deal even if they really like Shabazz and even though they'd get cap relief via Pek a year or two sooner than they would keeping Faried.

Yeah the only way the deal happens is if the nuggets have fallen in love with a prospect that they feel won't be there at 7. This trade would have to happen on draft night and would only happen if the player they really want is there at 5.

Heard pek 5 and bazz for faried and 7. If that is the case you take that all day. Is this real life?
If that would actually happen, I couldn't wait until the season starts. With Thibbs as a coach, I won't think that Faried's lack of defense would be that big issue. I believe that he would improve under Thibs and with his rebounding lack of rebounding from small forward position wouldn't be that big issue. Faried is such a rebounding machine that our starting five would for sure outrebound its opponent.
Faried would be also perfect for fast paced offence that most of us hope Wolves playing also next season. Whenever we would have to play half court offense, he would be also perfect glue guy to play with Wiggins, Towns and Lavine. He wouldn't need any plays called for him but would still score from cuts and putbacks. He is also signed for three years with reasonable salary (less than 14 million per year).

I also agree that this deal is not likely to happen (although I like it), but I wonder if Denver's incentive is less about who they covet at 5 and more about who they're worried about being stuck with at 7. I recognize my own prejudice is coming into play here and Denver might not be seeing it this way at all, but I see 3 through 7 as 3 players that seem to be fairly sure bets (Hield, Murray and Dunn), I young player that's difficult to get a read on (Bender), and 1 player who is a great athlete but has a shot that doesn't belong in the lottery (Brown). Moving up to 5 assures the Nuggets of getting one of the group of three that seems to have a fairly high floor, and might be enough to convince them to give up Faried.

While there's a lot to like about him, I have to say he would be my least favorite choice in the consensus top 7.
First, the positives. He's big, strong, long and athletic, and was the number two prospect behind Simmons coming out of high school. He also seems to be by far the smartest lottery pick we have seen in a long while...he turned down offers from Kentucky, Kansas and Duke because he plans to get his degree and preferred the academic environment at Berkeley.
All that said, he has some serious weaknesses. Most importantly, he has terrible shooting form for a wing, and the expected poor results, There's little consistency on his jump shot, and he leans back in an odd way on his release. His shot is going to need a lot of work to be even NBA average. He drew fouls at one of the highest NCAA rates last year, but the effectiveness of this skill is limited by his poor 65% free throw rate. He has tremendous potential to be a very good defender capable of defending four positions, but he has a tendency to daydream sometimes on the court.
I would say the difference between Brown's ceiling and floor is as vast as any player in the lottery. If we complete the Denver deal and end up drafting Brown, I would not expect much from him for at least a season. But I also think he is an intriguing prospect. Sometimes high school players who are so physically dominant don't have the need to really perfect their shot, so it's not inconceivable that he has a lot of upside on his jumper. And meanwhile, his size and athleiticsm can carry him a long way.
While I will be fairly happy to get Dunn, Hield, or Murray, this is one guy I'm not too wild about. He very much reminds me of Stanley Johnson - another guy I was leery about last year - in that he has an NBA body, but not NBA-caliber skills. And while Brown is certainly well put together for a college freshman, his size and athleticism is average-ish for an NBA wing. I'm just not seeing it with this guy.

Exactly the same thought I had last night as I was researching Brown, q. Both he and Johnson became high school legends by physically punishing opponents and never learned to become good shooters. Stanley is a better defender though. I was high on Johnson last year, but he didn't have a very good rookie year. I haven't given up on Stsnley, but very few players who build their reputation primarily on physical dominance become great NBA players. That's exactly why I sense Denver might be motivated to move up 2 spots...to avoid Brown.

LST makes a good point about those more likely to be NBA ready guys that Denver may want to move up to get. Woj named Denver as a team that didn't want to wait for a guy to pan out. Them wanting to move up depends on how the draft unfolds. It's possible they stick at 7 and have Buddy or someone else of that group drop to them. It's possible a run on those guards happens too. We will see. At this point so would be a little surprised if they were that desperate to make the Wolves an offer it may take to move up.
