Man Lip is really becoming a huge Okie fan! I like it. Hes the anti Wiggins. Kahns, no i don't think we'll find a great all around player this offseason. I'm just not convinced Russell is the addition we want.

And when he was open (4-6 ft) he shot a dreadful 18% from 3. So he shot terribly and nobody defended him
Yep, nice points. Beyond the normal stat line. Nobody was defending Okogie on the three point line which hurt the entire offense. It's what worries me a bit about Clarke and his NBA potential. You almost have to have to be at least adequate on offense or a superstar defender to make up for it. I do think Clarke could become a superstar defender though.
Guys like Roberson are still very good NBA players even though they suck on offense.
Now Okogie could become a decent shooter, It's possible.
It's ridiculous to judge Okogie's 3-point shooting entirely on his rookie season, especially given what a cluster-f last season was for the Wolves. You have to also look at his college percentage. And the again, I've given examples of very good NBA 3-point shooters who were terrible 3-point shooters their first year or two in the League. I suspect that Kemba Walker missed a lot of uncontested threes based on how low his 3-point percentage was as a rookie. Same for Kyle Lowry in his 2nd season.

I'm just pointing out facts. Okogie's physical profile and athleticism are off the charts for his position. And his numbers as a college sophomore speak for themselves. Add to that his obvious high-octane motor and you have the ingredients of a potential all star. Whether he develops to that potential remains to be seen. But the data on his length, athleticism and college performance are clear without looking through any lenses, homer or otherwise.

I see okogie turning into an iggy (super role player) type more than this untouchable all star that people think he can become.
Iggy had handles, but couldn't shoot a lick coming out of college. Now, he's a threat from deep while maintaining his defensive chops.

I think it's possible he could become an AllStar and like I said I love his motor and aggressiveness before. I still think the odds are low imo, probably in the 10% range. Besides his 3 pointer struggles last year, he does have a good handle and I think finishes pretty well around the rim. I don't think his vision and passing are good enough either though. Not bad, but not at a trajectory that I see him being Elite in the NBA.
Again possible, but not likely IMO.

I think that's the most likely level he reaches. Iggy in his prime was an all star caliber player. I don't see Okogie becoming a transcendent star like on par with Dwayne Wade. I've never gone that far in my assessment of him, although I'm not going to totally dismiss that possibility. The Iggy comparison is a good one and captures the essence of what I see him becoming.

In some order...
Doncic
Bagley
Young
Ayton
Jackson
Carter
Bridges
Gilgous-Alexander
Bridges
Huerter
M. Robinson
Shamet
Sexton
Bamba
Still not even a lottery pick...
I had Okogie rated in the teens last season (can't remember exactly where) and thrilled we got him at #20. I had all the above, except Shamet and Robinson, rated higher than Okogie back then. I'd still take Okogie over Shamet. And I'd probably take him over both Bridges as well. That would rank Okogie #12. He's one of 12 players from last year's draft who I thought then and still think have the potential become ( and a good chance of becoming) all star caliber players.

Other than Morant and Zion I think it's a crap shoot that any of these players turn out better than Covington. Will one of them? Prolly yes. But why trade a proven commodity so you can spin the wheel and hope it lands on your number and color?
Covington + 11th pic is more likely to succeed than just number 4.

Agreed. And Covington is literally the only player on our current roster that does the two things we need most: play defense and make 3's. He's more valuable to us than he is on the open market because of how lacking we are in these areas.

Covington is certainly far more of a sure thing than the #4 pick. As I said in my post, it really depends on what you think of Darius Garland. If you think he's another Damion Lillard in the making as I do, then the deal would be a good one for the Wolves. If not, then I'd stay with Covington and #11 or trade down to get 2 lower first round picks I exchange for #11.
I'll add that Covington isn't a guy the Wolves should be trying to trade. But he is a player the Wolves should be willing to trade since he's one of very few assets that have any meaningful trade value that could bring something helpful in return.
