The Minnesota Timberwolves turned over Ryan Saunders' coaching staff on Tuesday night, league sources told ESPN. They parted ways with Ed Pinckney, Larry Greer, Jerry Sichting, John Lucas Jr. and Dice Yoshimoto. They retained Malik Allen.

And Dane Moore made this comment:

Malik Allen was the coach who Karl-Anthony Towns worked with on an individual basis last season.

Definitely good news. Now let's see who replaces the departing assistants. An impressive group that includes some well-respected, experienced and successful assistants along with perhaps another young up-and-comer is what I'd like to see.

I'm hoping for a super mashup of former or obviously chomping at the bit names to be head coaches like Kahn assembled. That would be great right? Lol I'm also interested to see what happens at the G-league level but that may not be known for a while which is fine.

Good interview with Ryan and Barerrio. I can't think what more Ryan can do at this point. Hard to blame him for being so likable, articulate, and intelligent. I really hope he makes this work. My takeaways are:

1. Ryan is very open to input and advice - He seems like he has his own ideas but himself is open to change, I liked that he was enthusiastic about having former head coaches on his staff and didn't seem in any way dogmatic toward one system or philosophy other than his Flipism "coach the person and not the player"

2. He is a big believer in player development. He loves KAT and Wiggs and wants to make it work with both of them.

We will see. He lacks real experience no matter the insightful responses he gives to that lack of experience. I do like that he's open to experienced help. There is a lot of positivity in the franchise right now despite the trainwreck last season. I hope it keeps up with success.

Meanwhile it sounds like Michigan is hiring Juwan Howard. It will be interesting to see how he does. I've always liked him so i hope he doesn't flop at least but I'll be ok if Michigan isn't a top program right away...

If you wanted turnover for the coaching staff...looks like Ryan Saunders is the only guy left. Jon K said in his podcast that the Wolves are trying hard to get some pretty good hires for assistants but it's hard with some guys under contract etc.

"Barring some late issue, word here at the NBA Finals today was that Malik Allen is expected to be hired by the Miami Heat to join Erik Spoelstra's coaching staff. Allen started his playing career in Miami as an undrafted free agent."

Ready for another surprise? According to Marc Stein, Ryan Saunders wanted to make Sidney Lowe his top aide on the new coaching staff. Thankfully, Gersson Rosas denied that request...

If you needed more ammunition that Saunders likely doesn't know what he's doing, look no further. Sidney Lowe is a bum in the NBA. Of all the available individuals, Saunders wanted a guy that he was already familiar with instead of a much better candidate. Same old song in Minnesota. That country club shit runs deep.

Now I'm curious what your opinion is of Dwayne Casey.
