Yes I am taking the 2 time finals MVP right now over Luka right now. (I would obviously would rather take Luka in the long term)
Not a strong stance in my opinion . You pick one for what he's done and the other for what he'll do. Cool
Luka with a poor game with 29 11 and 8. But hey he didn't shoot the 3 ball well!!
You realize Kawhi average 25/6.5/5 this year right. It's not like he is washed. Luka is amazing would probably between 5 and 10 on a player I'm picking for my life. I'm just going to trust the guy who has done it in the NBA playoffs over multiple years on different organizations over the guy who hasn't been out of the 1st round in his career.
In a couple of years I'll probably say Luka would be my #1 choice but right now I'm still taking kawhi for this season
I respect that!

Ya and I respect you taking Luka because there is a non 0 chance they could make the finals in his back because he is that damn good. Excited for some new blood in these finals. 1st time in 9 years no curry or lbj in the finals. And outside if the mavs no organization left has won the title in the last 30 years

He's so good, one of my favorite players of all time. He is still my 3rd pick if I need to win a game for my life of active players (lbj and Durant the other 2).
I know I'm in the minority but I want the Clippers or bucks to win it all
Kawhi has been my favorite active NBA player for a number of years. He's one of those special players who can win a game through the force of his will. I'm with you in the minority wanting the Clippers to win the West. And I'm pulling for the Bucks to win it all.

Don't forget Kawhi isn't called the claw for nothing. He is twice the defensive player Luka is. Luka is great, but I'd still take Kawhi today. However, with this crazy series, I won't be one bit surprised when Dallas goes back to LA and wins it.
And of course, go Bucks!! Although the NBA usually gets the team they want into the finals, and this year it looks like the Nets.

Switching gears, it's worth noting how the Sixers benefitted from their effort to secure the top seed in the East. That effort really paid off in that they'll face Atlanta rather than the Nets in the 2nd round. That's particularly important now with Embiid hurting. The Hawks will be a tough opponent, but they're not at the level of the Nets. Therefore, the Sixers will now have the option of giving Embiid a game or two to continue his recovery and make sure he's fully healthy for the remainder of the playoffs. I know that's risky even against the Hawks, but it wouldn't even be an option if the Sixers were playing the Nets in the 2nd round.
I respect both the Sixers and Bucks for their effort to win their Conference. Another reason I don't like the Nets is the way they kept resting their stars, focusing almost entirely on the post season at the expense of the regular season. That approach short-changes the fans and dishonors the game in my view. There are other reasons for me to dislike the Nets, like James Harden and Kyrie Irving.

How good are these guys without a talent like him to lead? Not saying your wrong but sometimes great players get the best out of their teammates. Not sure these guys would shine elsewhere.
I agree that a great player like Luka (or Kawhi) makes his teammates better and brings out the best in them. But Hardaway was a really good player with the Knicks. Josh Richardson was a major rotation player for the Heat and then the Sixers, but can't even get on the floor for Dallas. But yes, Luka makes them all better.
I predicted that Hardaway would become more valuable for the Mavs because he was a decent player but the reason why I said that was Rick Carlisle. Hardware is better on both sides of the ball. It's funny you bring up Josh Richardson...I think we did better ending up getting Covington for Butler.

Game 7 of the Clippers-Mavs series is shaping up to be a good one. So far Rick Carlisle is showing why he's one of the best NBA coaches we've ever seen. I love his adjustment, having Porzingis cutting without the basket and Bobo feeding him from the mid-post.

Kawhi Leonard reminding everyone today why he's at least arguably the best player in the game - or at least the player you'd most want on your team in a playoff series.

I'm happy the Clippers prevailed in their series against the Mavs. I'm a big fan of Luka's game and Rick Carlisle is one of my favorite head coaches in the League. But I'm a bigger fan of Kawhi. I just love his drive and killer instinct. I also love the way he goes about his business - no antics, no bravado, no whining. He just quietly goes about his business - the business of winning.
If I were Chris Finch, I'd tell KAT to spend every night this off-season watching game film of Kawhi. I'd tell KAT to pay particular attention to how Kawhi conducts himself after a bad call goes against him. What does he do? He keeps his mouth shut and just keeps playing.

Kawhi plays like a man. On offense, he's all about power and precision - nothing fancy and very little foul-baiting trickery. Defensively, he's one of the few players these days that is his team's best offensive weapon AND willing to check the other team's best player defensively. Every other perimeter star these days gets a break on the other end.
