These are the kinds of returns from potential suitors I'd have in mind if the Wolves were to consider trading Towns. You could conceivably add teams like New York, Portland, Toronto, and Washington to the list as those who would have interest, but they're either lacking the attractive assets or aren't close enough to contention to pull the trigger on the deal they'd need to offer.
Sign me up for Celtics Trade. The best part is I think they would suck in next 3 years even with KAT so those draft pick is going to be pretty good. I don't see how a Tatum Towns mix would work out well.
Towns being able to play 2nd fiddle to a budding superstar (even one who's kinda sucky right now)... for a generally well-run or at least "serious" organization?
I can see why they believe they can figure out a way to make it work.
I just don't see how the Wolves get that large of a haul back. Brown doesn't have the create-for-others chops. But damn, he's good. He just keeps improving. I didn't think he'd become THIS good of a shooter.
Robert Williams has been a plus player on both ends.
Brown is now a perennial All Star.

AND (2) 1st round picks?
Agreed, jester. This is the most attractive offer for Minnesota of the ones I suggested. However, I do think the Celtics could make a Jayson Tatum and Karl-Anthony Towns duo work primarily because they can operate in different areas of the floor. That kind of multifaceted offensive game is partly what they're missing because Jaylen Brown and Tatum essentially take turns with the ball in the same spots. It renders the other less involved. Not to mention, Towns draws opposing bigs away from the rim, which would theoretically give Tatum and others driving lanes into the paint. That's the thinking behind it.
Abe, Brown is an awesome young player, and I've been a fan of his since he came into the league, but Towns is the significantly better player and probably the better fit next to Tatum as well. That upgrade won't be cheap. Robert Williams, a very good, young starter with little upside remaining, and two likely low first-round picks make up the difference for me. I think that's a fair deal all around, honestly.

Wouldn't we encounter the same thing with Jaylen and Ant? May be even worse when you think about Ant's tendency toward chucking. Jaylen is also high usage, but he is way more efficient than Ant. Trying to get those two to synergize would be a challenge.

Yes, Minnesota would absolutely have this same challenge. In general, I think it's difficult to get high usage perimeter players to coexist without issues, especially when they have similar player profiles.
I think in any Karl-Anthony Towns trade the Wolves need to acquire the highest-caliber player, or player(s) with the highest potential, they can and try to make it work. Unfortunately, none of these possible returns are perfect for Minnesota. They're just going to be at ground zero yet again having to accumulate as much talent and assets as they can, and figure out the blueprint later.
I'm curious...how do you guys interpret this video? My initial reaction was like crazysauce's- outrage. But then I opened my mind to the possibility that KAT was just being prudent. When Ant is not double teamed and gets into that attacking stance, KAT (like us) knows that 95% of the time he is not going to give up the ball. If KAT goes to the rim to rebound, he brings his man in to clog the lane. And he's not likely to get the ball outside the arc if Ant is in attack mode. Isn't the prudent move to get back on D to prevent the fast break in the event of a long rebound off a missed 3, especially if it's late in the shot clock (as I think it was)?
I think my initial reaction was due to my not liking KATs act this season. But maybe this isn't as outrageous as we're making it out to be.
Good point FNG, I'd actually rather him do that verses what he usually does, comes flying in out of nowhere to cash the boards when we have 2 guys positioned for the rebound, leaving us off numbers in transition.
Agreed, I'm not as upset about the video as I am the accumulation of hissy fits, whining, pouting, flailing, and general lack of toughness and leadership. This is just a little snippet of the total picture and there may be good reasons for his decision.
Again, this front office, going back to the regime before Rosas haven't done KAT any favors by having him play full-time Center. Unfortunately, I think it might be too little too late in terms of addressing that hole while he's still here.
I'll add that another reason some fans will want to see significant roster overhaul is they're tired of watching this on-court product. They will have watched Karl-Anthony Towns for seven seasons once this one concludes. Purely from an entertainment standpoint, I can understand why change would be desired.
