More like plan A.

He suckered the warriors into a hard cap by faking an interest in dlo, so we could get the real target for the league minimum.

And if that didnt work, dlo to a max deal was plan B.

lol that is leveling right there

Minimum contract? Cool.

The rub is that he looked completely lost on defense during stretches of the playoffs. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time... that's not a good thing next to KAT. Losing Gibson will make that even more noticeable.

The other thing is that Bell actually regressed in his two seasons in Golden State. His numbers were down across the board in Year 2. And as noted... even as injuries decimated the team... he couldn't get on the court.

In 2018, he played 54 minutes over 4 games on a healthy Warriors team that swept the Finals. He played as many minutes as the starting center, Javale McGee, (54 vs. 55). And more minutes than Kevan Looney, Pachulia and David West.

In 2019, he was 12th on the team in minutes. He played less than Jonas Jerekbo and Alfonzo McKinnie. He even played less (about 1/2) than Andrew Bogut who was out of the NBA until March 6 and had played in only 62 NBA games in the past 3 seasons.

Yes. He arrived to the NBA as Brandon Clarke (before Brandon Clarke)... but there are some very real red flags here.

And those red flags are why we got him for the League minimum. Those red flags are also why he probably won't pan out. Those read flags and the fact that, like Brandon Clarke, Bell has below-average length for an NBA PF with an 8'8.5 overhead reach. Meanwhile, his vertical jump is less than Clarke's and his basketball IQ looks like it's a lot lower than Clarke's. But hey, we got my guy.

Whatever his measurables may be, he still passes the "do shit" test: solid rebounder, gets plenty of steals, blocks, and dunks. Even a pretty good passer. He obviously makes up for his short wingspan with good instincts and quick reflexes.

I think he his scoring arsenal is extremely limited and then there are awareness issues on the defensive side of things. I'm not counting on those things improving given our franchise's track record, but worth a shot at his salary.

Rim protection is something that could really help this team. Bell brings that skill set to the Wolves, along with Q's "do-shit" list. And the play making ability is intriguing, just like it is with Okogie. I really like this signing.

If I read the CBA correctly, because Bell was a 2nd round pick and will have only been in the league for 3 years, he will be a restricted free agent next off-season, giving the Wolves control should he break out this year.

he was a restricted FA this year which requires a 2 year offer - the news is reporting it as a 1 year min deal - not sure how that works

My assumption is Golden State needed to renounce his rights. But I guess we will not know until all the details are worked out on or after the 6th.

I would have preferred C. Diallo as a young big with upside.

I liked him also. I'm just happy we got either one of those guys especially one for the min.

Wolfson reported that Tolliver checked back with the Wolves before signing with the Blazers. Assuming Tolliver would have been willing to sign for the min I'm guessing this team is going in on development because Tolliver for the min is a freaking bargain.
