GDT: Wolves vs. Sixers
Re: GDT: Wolves vs. Sixers
Wolves lost because they don't have a ton of NBA caliber players

If only Embiid had the high-caliber NBA talent around him that KAT has. :)

Feels eerily similar to when KG was losing games to the Spurs and Duncan and Dirk and the Mavs. Only difference is Kg still got his teams to the playoffs.

1st of all totally different era. 2nd of all I don't think you realize how much more help KG had then Kat has now. Now KG might not of had the best players in the world on his team but he has legit NBA players on its roster unlike Kat.
Comparing Kat and Kg age 25 season. If you look at the stat VORP (Value over replacement player) Kat currently plays with 4 players who are positive in that stat. Dlo, Beasley, Naz have a .4 and Vandy has a .2. He also has played with Dlo for 4 games this year. Now if you look at KG he has 8 players that had a positive VORP in his 25 age season. Including 6 players over 1. Including Billups and Wally having a 2.7 VORP. Those 2 players alone almost is 7 times higher in value based on Vorp then anyone Kat plays with.
Kg is better the Kat but no shit he is a top 40 player ever. Kat has his issues and you can question if he can be a #1 on a good team but let's not be mistaken Kat has played with trash his whole career.
Kat has had 1 career season where he played on a team with more then 2 players having over a 1 VORP and look at that they won 47 games that year. If you take out that year Kat has had 3 teammates ever have a season over 1 in VORP (Rubio 2x, Gorgui 2x, Rose 1x). KG had 6 in one season his 25 year only season alone.
Once again you can question if Kat is a one but it's bullshit to look at his career and knock him because he can't lead non NBA players to the playoffs

Kat came into the league as a can't miss possibly generational talent. Kg was a rail thin high school kid with loads of potential. The difference between the two at age 25 speaks to KGs willingness to get better at all facets of his game whereas Towns has just stuck with the abilities that got him here. I only compare the two becuz they are the two most talented players this organiztion has ever had. The only reason Kat hasn't made the leaps and bounds improvements every year lies within his own willingness to do so. Not becuz of organizational failures. IMO I don't see the same will and determination.
KG didn't contribute to 15-20 win teams in the Jordan era or the generation after. IMO the league is far more top heavy now then it was in the 90s. Meaning there should be more opportunities for Ws thru out the season.
Thibideau got a lot of flack on here for playing guys to many minutes . KG avg 39 minutes a game for 12 years and no one batted an eye.

I would say Wiggins had more talent then KAT. Wiggins could be fucking Jordan if he had his competitiveness and fire. KG said he had to fire up Wiggins in practice then watch him go off, otherwise he was a soft ass bitch.
Which is why when Wiggins really was motivated he could go for 40/10 and look like a top 10 player in the league, but he has no motor, hence soft ass bitch.
KAT at least plays hard. Wiggins problem was that he has the motor of a Smart car. KAT is at least a 5.0 Mustang.
KG was a Lambo
Re: GDT: Wolves vs. Sixers
I just finished a quick watch of the game, and have to admit I was wrong at the start of this thread...the game was indeed watchable. I was concerned about our offense again with our top 2 PGs out, but J-Mac really stepped up in his 42 minutes and KAT was a fricking warrior. Not good to see Nowell go down, but he's not a PG and it was perhaps one of the reasons we stayed competitive for parts of the game. Jaden missed a few open threes, but it was fun to watch him taking on Simmons...he really can defend 1-4. Ant had a poor rebounding game and only one assist, but his shot selection is night and day better than it was in the early part of the season...I'm starting to warm to the possibility of him becoming a star...and maybe even a 2-way player.
I'm excited to be back in the arena Monday night against the Kings...anybody else going to be there? We might see the return of DLO, and we're all anxious to see what he can bring. I've repeatedly said how I prefer him at the 2, and if Ricky's back gets better before Beasley's hammy, we just might see that.

Re: GDT: Wolves vs. Sixers
Kek and Wolvesfan - Good posts on KAT. Interesting point by WolvesFan that Wiggins had more talent than KAT. I agree with that, but more importantly so did Butler when he was here. I remember a comment to that effect in an interview. He said, KAT is the team's best player and Wiggins is the team's most talented player. Butler then went on to say that he played harder than anyone else on the team. Of course, Butler was right on all three points. I also remember Butler saying that Wiggins would do things in practice he'd never seen another player do.
KAT is certainly a great talent and he definitely plays hard. But he too often plays dumb. He also whines too much, albeit with justification given how he doesn't seem to get respect from the officials. KAT's a great offensive player who has historically been a poor defender. But he's improved defensively this season. He's one of the League's four elite big men, along with Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid and Jokic. The difference is that those other three have a lot of talent around them while KAT doesn't. Whether KAT is a #1 or a #2 on a championship contending team is ultimately beside the point. Just imagine KAT with Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., Will Barton, Gary Harris and Paul Millsap (pre-trade deadline Nuggets). That's a top 4 team in the West.

I didn't watch this game, but it looks like KAT went off.
I didn't read most of this thread either, though I'm going to disagree with Pork in KAT being called a generational can't miss player at the time of that draft. I recall being in on KAT well before most of the "experts" to the point where one of my buddies was sarcastically telling me I must know better than the experts if I think he's better than Tim Duncan 2.0, Jahlil Okafor. Even Flip wasn't sold on KAT until later in the process.
I recall that draft pretty crystal clearly. KAT had a great skill set, while Okafor was supposed to be Duncan Jr. D'Angelo Russell was also on that tier at the draft time. I also recall that Kristaps Porzi??is was thought of by some of the experts as the guy who might end up the best player in the draft once he gets acclimated to the NBA game.
Now back to KAT, I was absolutely sold on him and in the end, most people thought he should be the #1 player taken, and though it wasn't thought of as a low talent draft, at no point was KAT thought of as an Anthony Davis level prospect. THAT is a generational type talent staring people in the face at #1, same with LeBron. KAT was always thought of as a half-tier-full tier down from that...and it's played out that he's on that 2nd-3rd level caliber all-star to this point.

I really hope the wolves can build around Kat. I mean Kat 2nd best player he has consistently played with this year is Beasley. Beasley was 8th in minutes for the Jokic lead nuggets last year. Just think of that.
Tobias Harris who lit the Wolves up and was the difference last night would be the 2nd best player Kat has ever played with. While Harris is the 3rd best player on his team.
Kat had Wiggins though out his career. Two future HOFers in Curry and Green are struggling to hold on to the 10th seed in the west with Wiggins playing a key role.
Kats most common lineup this year: Rubio- Who has been replaced on his last 3 teams and is a bottom 3rd NBA starting PG. Beasley- 8th in minutes on the nuggets last year, Edwards- 5th worst in the whole NBA in VORP (Value Over Replacement Player), Vandy- Not in the rotation last year for the nuggets
I will rip Kat a decent amount, he is a terrible screener, has been a sub par defender during his career (has been significantly better this year), gets into foul trouble and sometimes let's his emotions win but damn he has played with shit throughout his career and the one season he played with solid NBA players they won games and that is with a team with terrible team chemistry and a toxic culture (stuff Jimmy said was correct) but when you have legit NBA talent around Kat the Wolves will win games. The Wolves have failed Kat 5 of his 6 seasons
