In the most recent Memphis game when you roll with J. McLaughlin and J. Layman until 6:29 in the 4th quarter do you really expect to win?

Meanwhile R. Covington and Okogie two of the better defenders played a combined 46 mins. Saunders last game didn't give his team its best chance to win. Mistakes will be made, learning and growing from them is the key factor in my eyes. Players seem to really like playing for him and talk about him in a positive way so lets be patient.

Okogie was not Particularly good in that game. A big reason he didn't play more was because he was in foul trouble And a few were wildly over aggressive fouls. I think it's pretty obvious they are being careful with Covington's minutes and to some extent Teague as well. That makes sense to me especially Covington. I though McLaughlin looked fine out there especially given it was his first ever actual NBA game. Let's remember he was the only actual PG that played in that game it made sense for him to play a decent chunk of minutes.

The shorter season buzz keeps getting louder, too. It's gonna happen.
Wouldn't be surprised if they go to a 1 - 16 playoff format, too.

Personally, I'm not a fan of any of these things. But to get into them more might reveal me as one of those guys who will say this is the Trophy culture reaching adulthood and end up getting called Boomer or something.

I'm not sure they are really going to shorten the season because that costs everyone money. Players owners league Networks everyone...except fans. Lol I could see them shortening it if they add some of these additional tournaments that other international pro leagues have. Honestly I wouldn't mind a shorter season because I think it feels like there are plenty of meaningless feeling games but maybe that's the Wolves fan in me... Meanwhile there seemed to be some real traction in the NFL towards adding games.

As for the Minutes (whether lots or less of them), load management etc I don't think either one is right or wrong. I think it's often player dependent. Going either extreme (like pretty much everything) is what bothers me. Meanwhile players and teams are going to want to do what they can to protect their assets...whether it's maybe the right thing to do or not is up for debate. Harden is part of the new NBA and there is a lot to dislike about him but that dude would play all 48 mins if you let him and I have no idea why he has been out there are times late in blowouts of some games.

Just add a couple weeks to the front part of the season and spread out the 82 games more. Less back to backs. More time to rest between games.

Average numbers for a team everyone was picking to be below average. Our early schedule may have had a lot to do with it in spite of all the road games.

Also worth noting that those offensive numbers include playing 2 games without Towns and 4 games without a PG. If we stay middle of the road defensively that would be a pretty big win. I think there is an actual chance we do that. offensively we will be better than 20th.

I want to say the defense was bottom 5 last season. But saying that RoCo was hurt. I think both can improve from mid to below avg, IF players stay healthy.

Say both in the 12-14 range.
