Wiggins just isn't that guy (although I like his improvements this year). We need a legit pg or combo guard that is a stud and a closer. I'm talking billups type. I still like the culver pick for that reason, but he hasn't panned out yet. Shoot, what would it take to get McCollum?? Covington, culver and a 1st? Do it. That's the kind of guy we need with towns. There's other more buy low guys that I'd go for too. They're wasting Covington's current value on this team right now! He's far from their biggest need.
I'm nodding in agreement with just about everything you said here, but I prefer D'Angelo Russell to C.J. McCollum for a multitude of reasons.
Yep Russell too. Either would be great and I think either Portland or golden state would be good trade partners. Russell fits the timeline and the towns angle better too.
Also, there's really not much to complain about on rosas to this point. I liked the draft picks, was good moving saric, and like all three of naz, mcglaughlin and Martin. Also really like the layman signing. My complaint will be if they haven't decided which way they're going in the next couple weeks. Covington needs to go either way, and a guard needs to come back either way... win now or lottery ticket(s)
the issue with Rosas is that I'm not sure the template he has can easily be applied to this situation, and this franchise simply isn't gonna give him credit for trying and failing. As I've said before, not just with Rosas but with any prospective GM candidate: I'm not sure he knows how hard it's really gonna be to shape this roster. I don't think anyone could reasonably expect him to land stars off the bat, but I think we expected more out of complimentary guys. Where's our Duncan Robinson? Where's our Kendrick Nunn? Too many random guys can pop out of any team and actually contribute whereas this team continues to parade otherwise useless players on the court time and time again.
As for Towns, he's a nicer Demarcus Cousins. Other than the defense, the biggest problem is that it's hard to believe anything he says and I say this because he says all the right things but can't apply them. I get that he's just one guy and he has to contend with a situation that nobody really wants a part of, but his leadership is something we all have to question, and it'll continue to be questioned as long as we keep this idea that we can't have vets here. (let's be real, when your friends wanna be teammates with you but not where you are, that can get to a player)

Yeah, slip away is definitely not the right phrase.
Trading for him will go down as the terrible decision. 3/5ths of the way through a rebuild around an absolute star in KAT and we go for that trade. Threw away assets for nothing.

We've all discussed the Butler trade previously. It's a mess in hindsight, along with Thibodeau. But I don't think anybody did it knowing that Butler was going to blow up the team by the beginning of season 2.
Season 1 was a "success" by Minnesota standards. Whether a short playoff run is a success for various posters depends. Personally, 13 years of abject losing... and possibly many more on the way... was not palatable for me. So I was on board when the trade happened. I hated everything that happened after that... but it was not something I would have envisioned happening. Easier to say it sucked really really bad now... knowing how it imploded then.
