I don't think so. They can try to sign Hayward, but there's no guarantee they'd succeed in signing him and they certainly won't know by draft night. Moreover, Butler's a better overall player right now than Hayward. Finally, recall that the Celtics had the best regular season record in the East and they did that without much contribution from Jaylen Brown. Yet, Brown showed in the playoffs that he can be an elite player. Although Cleveland handled the Celtics in the playoffs, the Cavs are not the Warriors -- not as good and not nearly as young. Again, the Celtics are already knocking on the Cavs' door in the East. Unlike the Wolves, they're ready to add a player like Butler.
I can see the Celtics trading their #3 pick, the Sixers pick they just acquired, their 2nd round pick and Olynyk for Butler and the Bull's #16 pick. I'm not even sure it would take that much. The Celtics would still have their entire core in tact with an up-and-coming Jaylen Brown and the addition of Jimmy Butler. They could infuse the team with more upside talent using the Bulls' #16 pick. And they'd still have their own pick and the Nets' pick in 2018.
Pretty positive they can't trade olynk because he is a RFA
I overlooked that. Then how about Rozier and another pick? The Celtics are loaded with the kind of assets a team early in the rebuilding process would be looking for. So one way or the other, Butler seems like a fairly easy get for the Celtics. It just depends on how much Danny Ainge values Butler. I don't have a good sense of that.

Maybe I'm being a Homer so it is clouding my judgment but I would rather have Hayward and keep all assets then trade assets for Butler.
Also if they got #1 (Brooklyn) and #2 pick (Lal) next year they could make a big push at anthony Davis. And have the bird rights of smart, bradley and IT.
If they would have all these assets in IT, Smart, bradley, brown, crowder, Hayward, taytum, Horford and 2 super high picks to try and get Davis. And that is not possible if the obtain butler
Dudes if Chicago had that deal on the table it would be Dunn. A perennial all star for a backup point guard and an unknown? That isn't happening and i can't believe i have to point it out.

Something tells me the Bulls reporter is more connected than you

Bloop, you're a smart guy. You can't be serious with this. There's a better chance of the Easter Bunny coming to my 4th of July celebration than that trade going down.

You can say the exact same thing about the Cousins trade not too long ago, stop assuming every NBA GM is a genius. Again this is being talked about by the Bulls reporter this isnt just a pipe dream anymore.
