I wouldn't call it a ridiculous expectation; just an unrealistic one. 1 out of 3 games, maybe. But not 2 out o 3. That's not the Teague I recall from Atlanta and it's not the Teague analysts have been describing for years.

I didn't do the math, but his numbers look identical to what he has done over the past 10+ years, but again, he just played more mpg. While I expect a slow down with age, I am confident he will bring every bit the play next season that he did this last.

He had a career year in minutes played (by far) and shooting efficiency (by far). Yeah, in a couple of other areas he was the same he's always been. But his ability to put the ball in the hoop from the low post was super efficient. So much so I'm not even sure it's sustainable. I never saw that kind of post game from him with prior teams, so credit to Thibs and Taj for exploiting matchups and getting him a lot of looks at the rim.

And credit Towns for drawing a lot of attention away from Gibson inside. Maybe that's the key. Maybe Gibson's season last season is sustainable going forward so long as he's playing next to an allstar big. He's never played with one before - at least not an elite offensive big.

I've adopted a new mantra for our Wolves. And it's the only way to stay a fan. If we have a perfect season the best we can hope for is fourth place and getting out of the first round. There is just no way short of a season ending injury to a superstar that moves the needle enough for us to finish higher than LA,GS or HOU. Unless we are getting back young talent we should just hang on to what we have. Save draft picks. Develop our guys under 24 yrs old. Build a team for the 2022-23 season not 2018-19.
Here's to 52 wins and finishing firmly in 4th place!
