Ricky can probably return a wing or big, but I don't see a deal out there that dumps Ricky and gets a PG back. Philly and Sacramento are realistically the only teams who need a PG and I just don't know where the PG we could use comes back from. Miami is going to want young players/picks for Dragic and even with 12 million in cap space that is going to be tough to do because outside of Towns and Wiggins, our young guys make very little to get the salary match. And we can't trade this year's pick because of the conditional 1st we owe next year to ATL for Payne. Sacramento has no cap space so they'd have to find a way to dump Gay or Afflalo to a 3rd team to make it work. So you pretty much just have Philly and you aren't getting a decent PG option back from them. It's a PG league, but there aren't a bunch of extras out there.
I don't think Brightside is suggesting that we have to trade Rubio for another PG. I think he's simply suggesting that we move on from Rubio and then he listed a sample of PGs that could be obtained either through trade or free agency.
Correct. There are a couple deals for Rubio that I could get behind.
1. Rubio and Bazz to Sacramento for Omri Casspi, Darren Collison, and Willie Cauley-Stein: Both Collison and Casspi are free agents after this season, so if it doesn't work out or we don't like what we see, we move on and have cap space. If they are good fits (which I think they will be), sign them back.
2. Rubio to Denver for Kenneth Faried: If you have to throw in Shabazz, do it. Both teams want to move on from each player and Thibs was rumored to be interested in Faried during the offseason. His defense is average but his hustle, rebounding, and athleticism would be welcomed.
