Philly and Sacramento are realistically the only teams who need a PG and I just don't know where the PG we could use comes back from. Miami is going to want young players/picks for Dragic and even with 12 million in cap space that is going to be tough to do because outside of Towns and Wiggins, our young guys make very little to get the salary match. And we can't trade this year's pick because of the conditional 1st we owe next year to ATL for Payne. Sacramento has no cap space so they'd have to find a way to dump Gay or Afflalo to a 3rd team to make it work. So you pretty much just have Philly and you aren't getting a decent PG option back from them. It's a PG league, but there aren't a bunch of extras out there.

I don't think Brightside is suggesting that we have to trade Rubio for another PG. I think he's simply suggesting that we move on from Rubio and then he listed a sample of PGs that could be obtained either through trade or free agency.

Correct. There are a couple deals for Rubio that I could get behind.

1. Rubio and Bazz to Sacramento for Omri Casspi, Darren Collison, and Willie Cauley-Stein: Both Collison and Casspi are free agents after this season, so if it doesn't work out or we don't like what we see, we move on and have cap space. If they are good fits (which I think they will be), sign them back.

2. Rubio to Denver for Kenneth Faried: If you have to throw in Shabazz, do it. Both teams want to move on from each player and Thibs was rumored to be interested in Faried during the offseason. His defense is average but his hustle, rebounding, and athleticism would be welcomed.

Collison is a terrible defender and would be a big downgrade (not to mention being more than 3 years older than Ricky) and Faried is junk with a bad contract.

Faried is not junk and has a contract that is less than Rubio's. Collison is not a terrible defender.

Collison's defense has more-than-not been discussed as a positive for him for as long as I can remember. And Faried's actually on a pretty team-friendly deal for several more seasons...

If Collison is a good defender, Tyus is a great defender. Faried is overpaid and I believe that is why its been so hard for Denver to trade him. He's an ok backup but he doesn't move the needle in any way and giving up $13 to $14 million for that type of player is stupid when we need to preserve money to resign our core players.

Didn't we just give Gorgui Dieng $16M per? Faried's contract is fine value.

Denver is not gonna want Ricky. He'd snipe minutes from Mudiay and they already have Jameer Nelson. Why would they trade for Ricky?

Exactly. Just the pure fire Faried would give us would match perfectly with KAT. Unfortunately I don't see Denver doing it. Faried matches well with their two studs up front too. I don't know at this point that there are many teams that see Rubio making them better. Philly probably but does Philly even care about being better this year?

Isn't that the rub with any Rubio trade. And it's not because he's struggling. Even at his best... a significant number of teams wouldn't even consider a favorable trade for him simply because of the very polarizing strengths/weaknesses he brings. He's just not a good fit for a lot of teams.

Well, Ricky hasn't helped the cause this season. It's funny how we rarely heard from Pork or Duke when the team was playing well in the 2nd half of last season - they had nothing to add. Now folks have the torches and pitchforks out, but it is what it is. Ricky hasn't been part of the solution thus far, but our problems got far beyond PG play.

This is absolutely false, when Ricky's had good games I've been on game day threads acknowledging it. I also think we have a different idea of what playing well means so we're not going to see eye to eye with Ricky.
You sound a lil bitter that I might be right on ole Ricky. :)
