Are the Wolves ready for that because that contract will have diminishing returns moving forward. Remember, Hill's best season statistically (16/5/48% fg) until now was 2 years ago when he missed 39 games and the Pacers missed the playoffs.
The Pistons won 32 games in Jackson's first season... but he was traded there late and only played 27 games. He had success in OKC. This year, the team has regressed in part because of Jackson's slow return from injury.
Is that it... slow to come back? Or, is there something more permanently wrong with him? That's an important question.
This isn't the NFL where 30 hits you like a brick wall if you are a running back. If you give him a 4 year deal he'll be good for a majority of that contract if not all of it. Hill will be 31 in May. Even in a down year last year he was still a 40% 3pt shooter with 12/3.5/4. If he can age into a 40% 3pt shooter who can make the right plays which is where he has been at the last two years then he's a great fit on this team.
You might be right, especially with how Thibodeau seems to prefer to use Wiggins.
I'm not against it. Just playing devil's advocate a bit. Hill will have offers. Big offers. And some will probably give him a better chance to win in the near term. We'll see.

The deal is to dump Rubio. The only way this makes sense is if we get Ibaka as free agent. That is a big if. We should get an asset back with Rose. I would want Willy Hernangomez and a 2nd.

Wolves' pursuit of Derrick Rose still very strong--"Thibs wants to do this," says league source w/knowledge--but MIN absolutely keeping Dunn.

There are a number of decent players I would like to get back from the Knicks. I would wonder if Rubio's salary is an issue for the Knicks. They would have to dump some guys to be able to sign anyone much better than a Courtney Lee type. Of course they probably have to spend some money (maybe Rubio money for a good PG so... my guess is they are trying like hell to dump Noah on Thibs.

How many years is Noah signed for? Isn't it 4 years?

4 years including this year. Huh just looked up his stats. He has played in 46 games this year that's a lot more than I thought and his rebounding numbers are very good.

khans2k5- the whole point of drafting a PG in the top 5 is so you don't have to turn around and give someone like George Hill 80 mil for 4 years. Once you make a move like that, it is without question that we can consider Dunn a failure

Where do you come up with this stuff? You get a guy like Hill to be an upgrade over Ricky and Dunn either beats him out or he doesn't. If Dunn beats him out you trade Hill and if he doesn't you trade Dunn. Pretty simple. Good organization's don't have dumb declarations like yours. They accrue assets and let the best ones win jobs. They don't care about draft position. They care about performance on the court and Dunn is either going to earn it or he isn't. You don't hand him the job and you don't declare him a bust just because you get a placeholder that requires him to step his game up to win the job. I can't seem to remember everyone saying Smart was a bust just because the C's went out and got Isaiah Thomas. Oh ya, because it didn't happen. And now they have both and are doing just fine and Smart isn't a bust and Thomas was a great move. Funny how that worked out.
