I liked the link to Dirk's failed bicycle kick.

Sam with his take on what may happen with KG. Ignore the click bait title.

Another reason it was the right time to move on from Sam.

I got some inside dope today at breakfast that I think I will share because it's not particularly surprising and I don't think we take things said in confidence outside this board. When I asked whether KG would be back this year, the answer was "we hope not". The relationship between the wolves and KG is severely strained, and they are actively working on a buyout. I'm guessing that is why KG was a late scratch on his radio appearance last week...his agent is probably telling him to lie low. It doesn't sound like there is much cooperation, so I would guess it will cost them the entire $8 million to say goodbye.

Robson tweeted about the rupture in the relationship 2 days ago, but took it in a different direction. "If KG+Wolves at odds, think distraction of keeping him around this yr pales to distraction of trying to force him off roster against his will". Yikes, no good. I don't think I agree with Robson on this one. KG has a very strong personality, and that can be very good or very bad. He was happy last year for the most part, and I really think his presence was positive for the team...both on and off the court. But is sounds like he is bitter now, and an unhappy KG could be really ugly. But since he holds all the cards, there's no reason for him to bargain. My guess is Glen ends up paying him the full $8 million to make him go away, and Thibs can use that roster space to add another wing. Just a guess though.

Appreciate the insight Long, and don't worry, my social media/viral inducing skills are so weak that I doubt I could spread a rumor on KG even if I wanted to!

Flip's untimely death led to a cascade of things that has led to this crossroad. And while I can't blame him for feeling bad about things, it only reinforces why you don't want active players riding herd over front office type decisions. If KG were in charge (or had the same influence he had when he was at his peak), Sam Mitchell would still be coach and Milt Newton GM. And while I think Sam did a solid job with the squad and Milt is certainly a stand-up guy, there is no question that the Thibs/Layden duo is - at least on paper - at a totally different level of experience and capability.

Let's hope this gets resolved amicably. My guess is KG will ultimately latch onto the Clippers for his swan song.....

As noted previously... money isn't an issue right now.

Pay Garnett the full amount and move on. Or, is Garnett refusing to take any sort of buyout?

Thanks for the info, LST, although it makes me sad. Why can't we all get along?

I always thought it was a poor decision for KG to play if ownership was his goal, because the cost of ownership was only going to go up as the years went by. And I have to think Flip sorta promised some things that Glen never knew...
