a few notes

- Dieng never had any Olympic experience

- Rubio has a 51 pts game under his belt in Under-16 Euro final game. and he scored a half-court buzzer beater. So not always he had to defer to older teammates.

Dieng doesn't have Olympic experience, but he does have a fair amount of national team experience where he has been put in the position of being Senegal's go-to guy. I think that has helped him gain confidence and diversity in his offensive repertoire.

As for Rubio, you are absolutely right. But that's pretty much the last time he was ever counted on to be a go-to type player. Age 16-20 are critical years for players to grow and evolve their game and he spent that whole time as a pure playmaker, setting up more experienced players. I think it's part of the reason he never developed much of a scoring repertoire.
