All the good things about Lance in this thread are true. All the more reason that Monster's right. He's clearly talented, has put up good numbers and is only 25 years old. Less talented and accomplished players are getting multi-year contracts worth more than $10 million per year while Lance hasn't even gotten an offer after playing for 5 different teams in the last 3 seasons. Folks, let's get real here. This guy has some really serious issues!

I'll add this though for comparisons sake. Waiters ended up taking a pretty cheap deal probably for a couple reasons.

1. He might have been asking for too much money throughout the process. He was also a RFA which hurt him too but even after that he may have asked for more than the team's that wanted him were willing to spend.

2. If he wasn't going to get his money he probably realized fit was going to matter. Miami may not start him but he has a good shot at playing solid rotation minutes for a playoff team. If he performs well again in the playoffs that's going to pay off plus he is in Miami both the franchise and the location.

Now to me Waiters was a RFA and I don't think he has nearly the u our skill set that Lance does but still you would have thought he would have found a better situation than he did. With Lance we know he has some issues of some kind holding him back (more than Waiters) but my guess is part of the reason he hasn't signed is he is looking for a good opportunity. Should he be that picky? Um actually I think he should to a certain extent. If he doesn't go to a good situation he might not be making good money (or be bouncing from team to team) anywhere except China for maybe the rest of his career. Now don't get me wrong there are probably only a few teams really interested but he may choose to wait things out instead of just sign with whatever team offers him a couple million on a 1 year deal. He could wait till a team has an injury if he really is committed to finding a decent fit of a place to play. I think in the right situation he could be a useful player but those options at limited. Maybe a place like Dallas where they could use some talent and have the vet coach and leadership he needs. He smells like a reclamation project and I don't think the Wolves need to go that route even though his versatility is very appealing.

Ty Johnson and Josh Richardson are also viable candidates.

Ok yeah I guess I just keep thinking that Wade is still there and he isn't. Lol I guess it is weird he is gone after all. If Bosh is somehow healthy (I am not overly optimistic about that unfortunately) that helps their chances significantly but if not yeah it's gonna come down to young guys really ball'n out for them to get there along with other teams faltering.

I don't know if your comment about Waiters was serious, but I don't think he's been handed the starting job. Waiters has been primarily a backup the past three years and nobody seemed to want to sign him this offseason. Meanwhile, Johnson got signed to a 50 Million deal and was more efficient scorer and had a better RPM than Waiters. Don't sleep on Josh Richardson either as he was a rookie who got a ton of minutes in the playoffs and was an amazing three point shooter.

If Bosh is out all year, its hard to see Miami replicating their success last year with Wade now gone. Winslow could blossom this year, but he, Whiteside and Dragic might not be enough to get them back to the playoffs.

Does Miami even have a 3rd PG? I assume Tyler Johnson is the backup PG (doesn't mean he can't start like CJ McCollum) so that opens up some minutes at SG but Waiters is t a lock for those minutes but he could certainly earn a large chunk of them.

I'll say this Miami has some interesting/solid depth on that team. Additions in the offseason of Babbit, Ellington, James Johnson, Derrick Williams, Waiters and Willie Reid have value of one form or another. Maybe none of those guys really move the needle but some have some potential and if they just come in and be solid that could help the team be decent. I'm looking forward to seeing Spolstra coach as a guy that's gonna win via making young players better not just managing vets and plugging guys in around them.

Waiters could have made about $7M if he just signed the paperwork with OKC. Instead, he waited too long and they pulled the offer.
