I have another question looking at NBA Draft dot net: DEN will have picks from NYK (a swap with theirs, in the LaLa Vasquez trade), HOU (if HOU wins tonight, from the Lawson deal) and POR (From the Afflalo deal. I say no. Also, I really don't want more than one rookie on next year's roster. I'd rather us start bringing in veteran players (not in their late 30s) in their prime to help the "win now" movement.
If KG retires and they decline Rudez team option, they'll only have 10 active players on the roster (at $55.6m, and with a projected $89m cap, $33.4m in space), so there would be room for the RIGHT three draft picks and two veterans. It's just too bad they don't have a scouting genius I would trust.
1 - Draft Ingram and start him next to Wiggins. LaVine still gets 30+mpg off the bench.
2 - Draft Simmons.
I like Cams idea of acquiring Favours in a trade although I would want to dump Peks salary in the deal or if we included Bazz I'd want their 12th pick in return. I think Utah would be all ears as Simmons would fit nicely with their other Aussie star in the making Dante Exum. Gobert - Simmons - Hayward - Burcs - Exum is a pretty scary lineup with huge upside.
3 - Draft Bender and hope he becomes Kris Porzingis 2.0.
Otherwise trade the pick and dump Peks salary in the deal. Maybe we could acquire a player like Nik Vucevic from the Magic. He's still only 25 and has a good contract at 11 mil for the next three seasons. Just an example but wouldnt want anything less than a young, proven player on a reasonable contract.
Outside of Ingram and maybe Hield (if available at 5) no one really excites me in this years class. In saying that I haven't watched college hoops much as of late.
