Re: Flip has passed away
A very sad day. Flip was the best GM and coach this team has ever had. Prayers to your family Flip we will miss you forever but never forget you. Hall of Fame ahead and its going to be a season dedicated to your memory. I can't even imaging how these guys will feel Tuesday. That will be one tough tough game to play...

Re: Flip has passed away
I feel like I just got punched in the gut. I'm still in shock. Even though all the hints coming out seemed to indicate he was in his last days, I kept hoping it wasn't true and he'd pull out of it. What a sad day for his family, the Wolves community and anyone lucky enough to have known Flip.
Tough to find any sort of silver lining in something like this. All I can come up with is that Flip made this team. Any success these young core players achieve should certainly pay tribute to the man who scouted, drafted and brought them all together. I hope this team goes out and does him proud. We'll miss you Flip. RIP

I know what you mean Carlos. Still can't believe it. The more I think about it and see stuff about him in the media I wonder what the hell this team is going to do to replace a guy who did so damn much. With him at the helm as VP I really had faith in the direction of the team. Now they're need to find another great basketball mind to help fill the holes left by his passing.
Granted it's just a game that really doesn't matter in relation to a man's life. It's just all around sad and devastating to lose such a great person. I just don't know.

This is just the saddest possible outcome in this whole scenario. He just seemed like a great guy any way you look at it. Loved that he made himself available since he came back with the team on the funkadelic. It's really too bad on so many levels.

Let's hope what Flip did as POBO was really set the table for this franchise going forward. I envision it like a flywheel that's full of energy, to be released for years to come......

I hope special things happen with the core he put together. It would be just one more thing to add to his legacy. It won't be easy for the team starting the season. The next few days will be very tough for the team. It certainly will bring them together.

Yeah, what's tough is that he actually coached these guys up until a few months ago. It's really only guys like Bjelica that probably didn't know him very well. I'm sure Jones and Towns got to know him real well through the draft process (and Jones being a hometown kid).
It helps that Mitchell has been the coach since the beginning of camp. Obviously there is NEVER a good time for something like this to happen, but the fact he began his leave of absence in early fall was the "least bad" timing from a basketball perspective.

Q, It is just something you can't prepare for. KG, Mitchell, Rubio, and company are going to take this pretty hard. It could be possible half the team doesn't make the season opener depending on when the wake/funeral is. Everyone will take this differently. It will be a long season without him.

This sucks. You're not supposed to die from Hodgkins disease anymore. I wonder if any details will come out about what went wrong since his diagnosis. Did the pneumonia make him so weak that he couldn't fight the disease? I also wonder if those in the know had an inkling this was going to happen. Did Ryan return to the team because Flip was essentially gone and on life support? You never heard anything positive about his condition, and any comments that leaked out seemed to be very subdued. Did he have a very low chance early on? So many questions, will we get any answers? I suspect we eventually will.
