Why can't we do both?
I don't care if Vasquez can't guard a chair at least he can play on one side of the ball and getting a guy that can play basketball that's a PG and can shoot 3's is exactly what this team needs. It's great if we can get players that play defense but I am not going to be too picky.

Yup, that's what I see happening. A vet backup PG, and a 3rd PG, too, that is not LaVine. The 3rd PG could come in the draft, or someone like LoBrown.

There have been a couple gutsy UFA PGs play in the Finals in recent years with JJ and Delly. My point is there are other ways to get those backup players than getting a first round guy or even earlier 2nd rounder. Who wouldn't want Isaih Thomas or Patty Mills as their backup? Those guys were a few picks from being undrafted. Maybe if we hold onto Lorenzo Brown he becomes a solid player. I'm not all for the guy or anything but other teams have brought along guys and a few years down the road they have been effective. That needs to be us if we want to be a really good team.

Vazquez doesn't move the needle for me. I would rather go with a young FA PG with potential then him at this point. Flip is the PG whisper. Find me the next Billups.

Didn't we have a guy like that last year in Mo Williams? Why didn't we just keep him?

He was on just a one year deal.

So do you have any ideas for that type of player?

Monster - Not off the top of my head, but I would start by looking at the D-League. I liked Stuckey, but I think the Pacers will keep him and he wants to stay there.

Stucky is a little older than Vasquez and is a combo guard at best.
If you want a younger FA PG with talent I'd suggest Kendall Marshall. Depending on who you want to sign I don't see why we can't have both Vasquez and a young pg. Having a vet off the bench rights now sounds good with all the youth plus it may mean Lavine playing a lot more off the ball which pretty much everyone prefers.
Edit: Vasquez is a guy that could have some value later in the season or at the trade deadline maybe get another 2nd rounder for him or whatever. I know it's not awe inspiring but it's another small upside for him.

Monster - I would really like to go after Jeremy Lin. He would be my best case. He is vet. Not past his prime. I thought about Marshall, but honestly was never high on him. I would figure out how much it would take to get Lin and see if we can land him and then select a second round PG. I wonder if the Lakers have much interest in Rubio. I wouldn't mind a Rubio for Randle and Clarkson trade.
Lakers could then trade 2nd for Cousins and sing Love as a FA. Roll out there with Rubio, Kobe, Young, Love, and Cousins next year.
We could roll out with Clarkson, LaVine, Wiggins, Randle, and Towns (backups of Lin, Martin, Shabazz, KG, Dieng)
