2 things...
Flip indicated Martin is NOT part of trade discussions (Dieng too). For me, I'm refreshed to hear that. Martin's deal really isn't that bad and he's a scorer, something we'll need, especially with Love on his way out.
And m4gor, I disagree...I think a deal is likely reached BEFORE the 30 days is up, in principle, and the paperwork is just filed after 30 days.

I honestly don't dislike that either. Martin's offense will be needed or someone else who can bring those types of numbers. If Martin stays then I can see JJ going for sure.
Yeah, I'm sure they'll want to submitted the deal as soon as they can when the 30 days are up.
Re: Quiet Before the Storm
I don't understand the obsession with trading JJ. He's an expiring contract who will come off the books after this season. And in the meantime he's only making about $4.5 million this season. In addition, he is a PG who doesn't add to our glut if wings that limit the minutes that would go to Wiggins, Shabazz and LaVine.
It's the multi-year guys to focus in moving out. It's Budinger with two years left and suspect knees. It's Brewer with two years left and one if the worst corner three shooting percentages in the League. It's Martin with three years left and a one-way game. I wouldn't trade all these guys, but at least one needs to go.

That's pretty close to my thoughts as well. Lets look at the possibility of trading each one. If you were to trade each guy & want to replace them with similar type.
Who would be the easiest to replace?
What guys are out there right now in free agency?

Re: Quiet Before the Storm
Barea's only making $4.5M... which is about double what he's worth right now. I also don't wanna see Barea influencing LaVine at all, nor do I wanna see another year of Barea being a ballhog. I think Flip will get rid of him, and he'll probably throw him away to the third team in a Love-to-Cleveland trade.
I'd rather see Brewer or Budinger moved before Martin if Flip is going to trade one of them. Budinger can stay if his knees are actually healthy this time, but that might not be the case, in which he can go.

I can't stand Air JJ either, but when a coach can get him to play within his means he can be pretty damn good. We saw a bit of that when he first got here as well as with Dallas. Last year it was like Adelman stopped coaching & let JJ do w/e he wanted. Of course it didn't help that there wasn't much on the bench offensively.
I trust Flip. If he thinks he can get him to play right I'm perfectly fine seeing him on the team.

Re: Quiet Before the Storm
Ahh his first two years in Minnesota... Inefficient offense and below average defense. Only got worse in his third year. What will his fourth year bring? Hopefully I won't have to watch him in a Wolves uni.

He looked promising early the first year. The more the coaches let him do what he wanted, the worst it got. Look at the Mavs championship season and who was the coach? Carlisle.
He got a bigger role here, started taking more shots, more 3s, etc and he was only playing about 5 mpg more. Almost had 2 more AST per game. All that shows he had the ball in his hands a lot more. Coaching is more important in sports than people give credit.
