Player Assessments at the 3/4 Pole
Re: Player Assessments at the 3/4 Pole
Long - yes, very curious. I like the idea of Malone. He's been successful everywhere he's been as an assistant. And the Kings were playing fairly well and improving under him as head coach. I'd prefer Fred Hoiberg or Thibs, but I doubt they are realistic options for next season.

Anybody else think it's interesting that he is again travelling with the team on this road trip...second time Flip has brought him along. When asked what it means, Flip gives the same answer..."professional courtesy". What does that even mean? Are all the other coaches in the league not being "professionally courteous" to Malone? It's all very strange to me...kind of appears like an extended audition for Malone.
I think the Celtics did the same for Flip a few years ago late in the season/playoffs?

Isn't Malone a defensive guy? Maybe Flip thought Malone could help out in some way. Maybe Flip would consider hiring him to be the DC for the team next year. Who is the defensive coach on the staff this year? Sam? I can't really think of anyone.
I haven't watched as many games as most of the posters here but damn it's hard to really say how the staff has done coaching this team with so freaking many injuries and different players. Some nights I watch and I thinkan they really got these guys to play well and then other nights it's brutal. Defense needs to be fixed and that's not just coaching its personel also. Flip had a plan to play zone a lot but that blew up when Rubio got hurt Etc etc. To me the real key is if this coaching staff and the Wolves have seen enough from a guy like Bennett to know if he is worth keeping around or not.
