Jokic in Denver is pretty dominant offensively - to the point where he is literally the fulcrum of their offense, averaging 7.4 assists per game along with 18 points. And they lead the West despite having a rash of injuries.

That is fair, but of the top 10 players to lead the NBA in post ups, only Jokic, Embiid and Aldridge have their current teams in the playoffs. Also Embiid and Aldridge are probably the 2nd options on their teams defensively.
Compared to pull up jumpers 9 of the top 10 are teams are currently in the playoffs, and 15 of the top 20 have their teams in the playoffs.
Also think it helps that Jokic is one of the best passers of all time from the big position.
Don't get me wrong I love Kat I just don't know if it is realistically possible to have your number 1 option be a big guy (who knows Jokic could prove this wrong but we'll see when the playoffs come around)

Well, KAT isn't just a post-up player. His offensive skill-set is probably about as diverse as you will find in the NBA in terms of posts, drives, putbacks, mid-range Js, and 3s. Plus he can pass, albeit may be not as prolific as Jokic. He literally doesn't have a weakness on offense. Once we get a coach that realizes this, I can absolutely see him putting up 25+ PPG and 5+ APG, with hopefully easier baskets flowing to other players that play off him versus him having to play off of others (Teague and Rose mostly).

Kat played damn good again, I just don't know if your best player can be a post. Kat gets mugged consistently and no call (this goes for every post), while perimeter players get touch calls. It's hard for Kat to work so damn hard to try and get 2 pts
Yes. I've been saying this for some time now.
I know most others will point to the "supporting casts" and "shitty organizations" and even "shitty fans"... but let's be honest -- the modern NBA is catered to superstar movement + perimeter players.
Consider the Hornets have the BEST post player in the game and they're only 17 - 21.
I am asking what do you think. Do you think the Wolves should try and Trade Kat to try and get a All star Caliber wing or PG based on how the league is going.
In the past I have posted on how teams with dominate offensive centers have really struggled in recent NBA history based on the rule changes.
For example if the Celtics came and offered Tatum and Horford for KAT would you do it. Would you trade Kat for a guy like Donovan Mitchell or Devin Booker and pieces.
Im just curious on your thought process because I have had similar thoughts to you in the past on how the game has changed and how organizations should adapt. (In no way am I saying you think we should trade KAT)
I'd like to see KAT as THE guy on the team first before doing anything like that.
He's yet to lead the team in shot attempts. (although it may happen this season)
I'd like the guy to be shooting close to 20 times per game... with 6 or 7 three pointers. As Q noted... he's just so versatile and even his passing seems to be improving a bit...

When was the last time there was a legit no brainer top 10 player in the league that was a big? I mean AD has been in that discussion at times but he gets hurt etc. I agree with Abe it can be hard to be that guy as a post player but I'm just not sure we have had many of those types of guys that were absolutely terrific on both sides of the ball the last few years. I'm probably forgetting someone. I think there are a number of guys that are good even very good but nobody that's just absolutely awesome. There are some guys now including AD Embiid and even Towns (if he defends) that have the potential to get there. Regardless you don't win games with just one guy being awesome. Even Lebron can only do so much.

Monster brings up Embiid. He is absolutely the focus of the Sixers offense, even with Butler, and they are on track to win 50+ games and be a top 4 team in the East. He also averages over 4+ assists per game and carries a higher usage rate than KAT.
And Thibs can't figure out a way to get KAT more touches!? Insane.
Ironically, may be Thibs has stumbled into it with Tyus starting. Since Tyus isn't the type of ball-dominant scoring PG that Thibs prefers, it's forced him to go to KAT more often....

Once again, I don't want to come off by saying we can't win with Towns, Towns is no good and we should trade. Him I just think it is a good philosophical discussion on how the NBA is going today and is it possible to be a legit contender when your best player is a offensive big.

Q I thought this was somewhat interesting. It's just one month but it looks like in December the FGA for Towns and Embiid are pretty close. Embiid is getting a few more touches because he still gets to the line more but it looks like the gap has closed after the Butler trade.
