I still like getting Otto Porter the best as I see him as as great fit and he's much younger than Butler. He is the anti-Wiggins as he does all the dirty work and shoots very efficiently (in fact he's been near the top in efficiency the past two years). He has gotten better every year and in fantasy hoops, Porter has been a top 15 player two years in a row.

Covington would be my second choice after Porter. Philly is so loaded we might get a nice return. Covington, Korkmaz and a first rounder is what I'd shoot for and hopefully, we get something close.

Sixers don't do that
Honestly if we just got Saric back in the deal for Butler I would be relatively happy. I know more salary would have to be involved (add Wilson Chandler in there to get it close) and hopefully we could get more but one good young player like Saric that could actually help this team going forward would help quite a bit.
Something like Saric, Wilson Chandler and filler plus some sort of 1st round pick would give us a young player going forward, a vet in Chandler and Saric it help us not suck this year plus a pick that could give some sort of hope for the future. Saric would be cheap for 2019 so we would have some room under the tax at least. That doesn't sound like a home run trade but it could help move this team in the right direction. I'm hoping we can do better but ready for something more like this. I think the Clippers would offer more but if Harris is part of the package how much he might get paid next offseason is part of the equation.

Nobody is gonna take Dieng back because it gets in the way of those teams trying to land that second max player. On top of that, they're not gonna give you Gilgeous Alexander or their other rookie Jerome Robinson.
Realistically, a Clipper deal will look like this:
Harris, Beverley, a 2019 second, and a 2022 first rounder with little protection for Butler and Patton
A Nets deal
Butler and Gibson for Hollis-Jefferson, Crabbe, Faried, and a lotto protected first
I don't think the Knicks will pursue Butler at all via trade.

Then you don't do those trades. We are still the ones with the asset

I just don't see the teams looking at where they are saying "we have to go for it." On top of that, Butler's doing a great job of sabotaging his own value by being in the middle of all these teammate issues. We have the asset, but it's a depreciating asset. They already know we can't just bring him back.

True. But the team who trades for butler has a huge edge in resigning him. We still have some leverage and butler still a top 20 player

Probably not, lol. Fultz is still a big unknown and obvious bust
so far. Isn't the team who gets the best player in a trade the winner? I think Butler makes them really strong contender if he agreed to staying there.
I really like Saric so I was trying to sneak that in. Maybe Covington and Fultz for Butler.

I don't think we need to include Dieng in a deal here, why lower the value of what we are getting back, and I just don't see us signing a big time player next Summer if we did dump Dieng's salary.
I like the Otto Porter idea, and if Washington feel like Porter is a better all around player for them than Beal I would take Beal. I see he actually played all 82 games last year after some injury prone seasons.
Philly if we could get 3 of these assets I would take it, Saric, Covington, Fultz, one of the draft picks. After giving it some time to field offers I may take 2 of those assets if there is nothing better.
Hayward for Butler. I probably would do it, if and only if Hayward is healthy.
I wonder if Phoenix would take the risk. If we did something like Butler for Warren, Jackson, and Bridges. Phoenix would have the salary cap to sign Butler to team up with Ayton and Booker, and if they were able to dump Anderson off to someone they might actually be close in cap space to keep Butler and sign Irving next off season.

Let's look at this in a different angle. Regardless of appropriate value in a Butler trade is there a realistic player you would be excited about adding to the roster?
I think Tobias Harris is realistic and would be a nice player for this team going forward. He isn't cost controlled but how much will he actually get next summer? He turned down 5 years 80 million and that makes sense. It's not gonna be in the very distant future players that are good staters are gonna be making 15 million a year or more again and Harris could be much better than guy with just a couple NBA skills. He just turned 26 in July and is pretty versatile. I'm not saying he is the guy I would target but I would be excited about adding him and hope we kept him around.
