Celebrate Shabbaz with me
Re: Celebrate Shabbaz with me
To be fair, Lip, Thibs did TRY to get some 3-point shooters -- Redick, Miles, and probably some others -- but the mix of salary/year demands by those players combined with other needs for the Wolves resulted in the 3-point shooting pursuits not working out.
Re: Celebrate Shabbaz with me
So Lip has been pounding the drum of 3 point shooting and this offseason taken shots at Thibs roster construction and then is willing to forgo a guy in Dante who can actually shoot the 3 (even if he regresses to below average) for an "intruiging" guy in Thomas Robinson who before last year with the Lakers (stretched out to 10 ft) couldn't throw it in the ocean from outside of 3 feet from the rim. Oh and the deepest position on the roster by far? C followed by PF. I expect better from you Lip. :)

I guess I just don't consider Cunningham a three-point shooter and I think his career stats bear that out. But you knew that. So that causes be to have some interest in the younger guy who can rebound. It shouldn't matter much anyway. If we signed either one and he got lots of minutes I'd say this team would be in trouble. :)

I recall reading that Thibs didn't even make an offer to Redick. He did try to sign Miles but couldn't afford him. But the reason he couldn't afford him is because he used the remaining $14 million in cap space at the time on Taj Gibson. So it's not as if Thibs had no interest in adding 3-point shooter. But it's pretty clear he didn't put that much of a premium on it based on who he signed with our cap space and who he gave our one cap exception to.
I'm guessing Thibs Wiggins's 3-point shooting to continue improving and also expects Butler to hit threes the way did last season without regressing to his mean. Those two things would be huge for the team since those guys and KAT will obviously be taking the bulk of our shots. If those three are hitting their three-pointers than we're in pretty good shape from behind the arc. Teague can perhaps up his volume and maybe Belly can finally develop some consistency from behind the arc.
