But with Teague/Butler/Wiggins/KAT, do we really need another shot creator on the team?
He can handle the ball and pass, but he and Tyus in the backcourt are going to be BRUTAL defensively.
I think they wanted a bucket getter off the bench. Is he the best no but I think he is the best bucket getter left.
I like the signing. If we get miles without a first I will give the offseason a A
If we get Miles, I'll certainly feel better.
I actually didn't think a shot creator was as much of a need given the fact we have four starters that were all #1 or #2 options last year. With that many scorers, we can always have at least one or two on the floor at all times.
I'd much rather have a low mistake catch-and-shoot 3-baller that can also play passable defense. Hell, I might even prefer Thabo Sefolosha because he can defend, rebound, get deflections, and is OK-ish from 3.
Q - The player you described is Aaron Afflalo. A low mistake non-volume 3-point shooter who can defend. But otherwise, I'm all in on signing Thabo to the vet minimum if that's possible. Butler should be lobbying him to come here.

I'm watching the Wolves summer league game again. Isiah Thomas mentioned that the Wolves just signed Jamaal Crawford. Then he started laughing and said, "you know Thibs isn't bringing him into the game to play defense."

A couple thoughts.
Wolfson reported Crawford is actually friends with Aldrich. That may make a deal less likely. I'm not saying they placate Crawford but it's something to consider.
If the Pacers are gonna use their cap space to get an asset they should hold out for something better than a 2rpund pick from a likely playoff team. Look around the league...teams are gonna be looking to make moves to save money. Keep your cap space for a 1st round pick. Of course the Pacers haven't exactly done all that well this offseason so maybe they make the move for not much. They did that in the George trade. Lol I would not trade the pick. Players are starting to take the vet min already.
Q is right Crawford isn't what he used to be and has his flaws but man the bench had not much there and with Crawford you get longtime vet that can create AND hit a 3 even if it isn't a killer percentage. That may not be easy to find. Afflalo isn't a shot creator neither is Rush and Miles isn't much of one either. I'll take a vet like Crawford who has been there done that and can still play. We can get specialists that can shoot the ball and/or defend like a Rush and having a guy like Crawford on the floor with them makes some sense. Now it's possible to go with a bench PG that maybe brings something besides just being able to shoot the ball and maybe even be a younger player. Tyus and Crawford might be a bad defensive pairing but offensively that could be pretty fun and a lot of team play combo guards off the bench anyway. Now we can also.
This team went from stupid young to being a vet team with some young guys along for the ride...except the young guys are really talented. If feels more like the Spurs transition team situation than some rebuilding or youth driven team.

Arron Afflalo isn't the same player he used. His defense has decline tremendously.

Crawford 4 years ago? Awesome! Crawford today? Money could have been better spent...
He's a sixth man of yesteryear. Not LAST year. Fuck these last two signings. As CoolBreeze would say ... screw just accepting everything blindly. When do we go full pitchfork rather than explaining ourselves into being convinced??

WebMD Condition #34891: Phantom Payne
Symptoms: Patients with this medical condition have lost an injured or useless limb, usually through amputation, and yet they still feel the presence of the limb, usually through the sensation of severe Payne. In extreme cases, delusional patients may surpass merely the sensation of Payne and come to believe that the defective limb is, in fact, still attached to their body, even when shown evidence to the contrary.
Treatment: Patients respond well to a winning season of basketball, and a deep playoff run is often sufficient to cure the patient outright. In extreme cases, this should be accompanied by psychiatric therapy.

Lol. Post of the year award should be given early. Thanks for that.

LOL...
PS. Future -- If I am not mistaken, Thibs has not made a single off-season move you like!

Post ups are an overrated form of offense unless you are absolutely elite at it (KAT is elite) or the mis-match is so big that you can just throw the ball over the top for an easy layup (like when a guard gets switched onto a big). Teams will gladly allow Butler and Wiggins to shoot contested turnaround 2-point jumpers. That's why we don't see many teams do it anymore.

I'm not quite 100% Future, but I'm probably 50% (taking a page out of the old Porkchop metric on how down folks were on Rubio).
While I think this team is improved for sure, I think Thibs fell asleep during "Roster Construction 101", one of the prerequisites to becoming an NBA GM.
