4 of the 7 top headlines on ESPN right now are Blatt related. God ESPN sucks sometimes.

I hope they trade Love so he can drop 25/12 on them every game he plays them. It's unbelievable the pass Kyrie gets. Love plays great and the Kyrie comes back, Love's touches go back in the toilet and Love is straight back to the have to go pile. I bet money if they flipped Kyrie for CP3 they'd instantly win a title this year because CP3's impact on the team is so much more than Kyrie's.
That trade has been mentioned. I wonder if Rubio would make a big enough difference for them to win a championship over Kyrie. I think Kyrie is a good player, but bad fit on that team.

And when Rubio arrives and teams start daring him AND James to hit shots outside the paint...

I think it is more of a concern that James doesn't have the ball in his hands. Their defense would be much better with Rubio or CP3.
Re: Blatt fired
I have no interest in hiring Blatt based on the following:
1. Questions about his ability to draw up plays
2. His apparent inability to win the respect of his players. Apparently it wasn't just LeBron who wanted him gone.
3. His reported failure to connect with his assistants.
4. His apparent arrogance, which may underlying all the other concerns.
Yes, head coaches like Carlisle have praised him. But head coaches ALWAYS praise and defend one another when they're fired. It's a close fraternity.

All may be true. I don't know. But to play Devil's Advocate...
1. Who pushed this narrative? The players/agents who wanted him gone? Remember, there's a lot of PR fluff flying from both sides.
2. When the best player doesn't buy in from the start... that permeates through a team. Likewise, when the best player buys-in... everyone else follows.
3. The Cavs hired the guy he beat out for the job to be the associate coach on the most lucrative contract in the NBA. That's very odd.
4. I have no idea on this one. I did see comments about him scoffing at the idea that he was a young/new/inexperienced coach.

Re: Blatt fired
Well, the good news is that it appears the range of options available to our POBO in selecting a replacement for Mitchell continues to expand.
Mitchell appears to be winning just enough to keep his job through the rest of the season, although I'm not sure Taylor was ever going to pull the trigger mid-season anyway.
It should be another busy off-season, with front office, coaching, and draft pick intrigue. Oh wait, we're only halfway through the regular season, right?

I think some care should be taken when considering any coaching possibility for the Wolves. There is unlikely to be any guy with no concerns. Blatt is likely to be a polarizing figure and for good reason. I am going to play another Devil's advocate to just some of your points
1. McHale was a joke at times drawing up plays as a Wolves coach. I don't think anyone is questioning his ability now.
3. I am not sure about him not connecting to assistants. Lue was given a lot of responsibility and Griffin was on ESPN radio this morning (either very straight talk or incredible spin but probably some of both) and said Blatt gave all the coaches a lot of responsibility. He said Blatt wanted Lue from the beginning. I've heard sources that say Lue basically stuck up for Blatt at every turn.
Re: Blatt fired
I am a big fan of the Timberwolves and I am enjoying to read most of the threads here for years (from espn`s days).
Usually, I don`t write here cause the time differences and cause of my bad English, but I saw this thread and I couldn`t stop myself, so here is ehat I think about rhe thinking of giving Blatt a chance as an head coach:.
I hope that our front office will be smart enough not to hire Blatt as a coach. Period!
As you all know I`m from Israel where Blat had played and coached most of his career.
As I had written before this season, Blatt has no the skills to be a head coach in the N.B.A. - I think that was proved (Rambis could have won the Eastren finals last year with Lebron on the team).
As I had written before this season, Blatt is not an offensively genius as he was sold in the U.S. by his agent last summer - We all saw he is far from that to say the least and that he has no offensive system (You can watch by yourself with every team team he coached in the past).
We are all have the feeling (and dream) that our team (talent wise) can become a better team than we had in 2004 (Westren Finals), if our young core will develop on the right way with the right head coach. I don`t want Blatt will ruin that dream (with all the talent we have on the roster)
We need an experienced and respectfull coach to coach our talented roster and that can develop and guide our young players. Blatt is not that man, he is a gimmicks guy (That the reason the Cav`s players didn`t respect/hate him in the locker room) and it`s not the time to gamble.
In my opinion, with our talented roster we can hire a high caliber coach next year (By the way SVG sounds good to me) - we shouldn`t waste that chance.
Go wolves!

Q, you survived the storm (i'm near DC), I got almost 3 feet by my place, felt like a Minnesota storm. What did you get in Philly? Don't we ask these questions of our team every offseason? It's like a broken record for us pathetic fans, always buying the hope of next year. I'm guilty too, but I was supported by Kahns saying we've gone through 10 years (25?) of this, so why give up now I guess.
