The thing I have always liked about Bjelly is that the guy only looks to shoot the 3 or put the ball on the floor for either a shot in the paint or a kickout to an open shooter. You almost never see him pull up off the dribble for a long 2, a shot we see all too often from the likes of Wiggins, LaVine, Martin, and Rubio.

Agreed. He is a smart player with a skills we lack from the younger guys. I liked the idea of starting him and seeing if he can guard the other teams SF. That or let loose Shabazz.

I'm skeptical that he can guard wings but anything is worth a try. He would add shooting and rebounding to our first unit as a 3, but we would take a hit defensively as now Wiggins would have to guard the top wing and have less energy to use on the other side. Then again, the same thing would happen if we started Shabazz.

Bazz is really looking better out there. He looks to score... Especially when he is the only scorer out there. But his passing has made great strides the past week or so. Would love to see KAT, Belly, Bazz, Wiggins, LaVine get serious burn as a unit. Go big with Pek, KAT, Belly, Bazz, Rubio as the bruiser unit. Drop KG to ceremonial 8 min per game, look to trade Martin, Prince(even tho I love that guy, he needs to go to a contender), Miller and Payne.

I think at some points Belly can or will be able to guard some wings but I think he would get killed right now. It's bad enough he gets called for fouls as a big it won't get better guarding out on the perimeter. I'd keep him as a PF the way he has been playing lately he is the 2nd best all around PF game on the team Inwoukd say the best but KG has been taking and nailing that jumper.

Dunleavy is injured and already 35. He might not play single game this season since he is recovering from back surgery. He has still two more years worth of 10 million left in his contract. So I think he has currently negative trade value.

Well if that is the case, why on earth would you want to make this deal? Snell is a mediocre player at best. You certainly don't saddle yourself with an albatross contract in Dunleavy for the services of a 38% shooter. I just don't understand some of these things thrown out around here.

I would not want Dunleavy either but I think we would need to take him that we would be able to get Snell. That would be required to get salaries to match and I think most probably Bulls wouldn't give Snell if they couldn't include also Dunleavy.

I would want Snell because he seems to be perfect fit to play with our group of wings. He is young, low usage 3&D guy that shoots three pointers with almost 40% accuracy with nice volume. He has already more made three pointer this season than anyone in Wolves uniform. He is also already elite defender.

Below are some defensive stats from him:

Opponent 3P% when guarded by Snell compared to their average -14.4%
Opponent 2P% when guarded by Snell compared to their average -3.2%
Opponent FG% at rim when guarded by Snell compared to their average -4.8%

He also has best net rating of whole Bulls team with +8.4 ans best on/off numbers as well with +12.7. So it seems that it is not just that Snell would be good individual defender, he improves team defense as well.

Wow, impressive stuff. When it comes to things like Net rating and defensive numbers, I like to look at things across more than one season since there can be aberrations. How did he look last year?

Not that good but not bad either. Last year his net rating was +3.3 and on/off +0.0. The year before those numbers were -4.4 (net rating) and -9.4. Interesting. He appears to be one of these low usage/low production type guys that doesn't do much in the box score, but does other stuff to help the team win (defend, space the floor, etc.).

We will eventually need a 3-point shooting version of Prince. Snell seems like a reasonable target. He's not very expensive either.

Snell would be prefect. If we could get him for Martin without taking on Dunleavy we would be in good shape.

Also would Belly be any worse defensively than Martin? I would guess he would be an upgrade, but not quite as good of a scorer, but helps in other parts of the game where Martin doesn't.

I haven't read through this thread so this might be repeating somebody else's idea but if I was coach I would try this:

KAT
Belly
Bazz
Wiggs
RR

On offense Belly operates as a two guard and stays camped outside the 3 point line. Bazz operates as the power forward, posting up if the match up is right. Otherwise he spreads the floor in the corner taking the corner 3 when open. Probably get killed on defense but we're getting killed overall anyway with the status quo.

In reality though I'm at the point of chalking this up as a lost season. Just keep Mitchell on board and swallow the ugly pill of making no forward progress (as a team), get ONE MORE high draft pick, maybe even hit paydirt again with a Simmons or Ingram, then regroup this summer with a real coach who wears no earrings and can draw up a final play now and then. I'm beyond sick of losing at this point but after so much of it I guess what's another half season. Sigh.
