And there to me is the biggest problem, with Glenn keeping an unproven commodity it ensures that Glenn himself will still be far too active in the decision making. I just don't understand how he managed to be successful in business while being so completely averse to hiring the best qualified person for the PBO/GM job and then getting out of the way and letting them do their job. He did that with McHale, and maybe that's why he's gun shy about doing it again.
^^Winner Winner-Chicken Dinner^^^. You nailed it. Many problems with this franchise can be traced directly back to Glenn Taylor. He's been a brilliant businessman and has more money than any of us could every hope to see in our lifetimes. But (by all accounts I've read) he's also a control freak who cannot simply empower someone else to run his business. All reports I've read about possible sales of this Franchise have alluded to Glenn only willing to sell if the buyers will run things they way he wants them them run (contingencies). That's the equivalent of selling your house to someone only if they agree to not repaint or make changes without getting your approval. Good luck finding such a buyer! This guy needs to just back away already. The reality is we are looking at another year of Milt, Sam and the Country Club. Accept it. The only change might be KG will somehow be involved as another trusted adviser. Believe it.
Your example of a house sale is pretty far from what Glen has owning an NBA franchise. It's VERY common actually typical to have a bunch of people in ownership of a pro franchise I assume it's pretty uncommon to have 10+ parties owning a single family home. Lol
My point was more along the lines that if you want to sell something (your car, your house or your basketball franchise), you are out of the picture. You can't sell your house and expect the next owner to consult with you before remodeling. You can't sell your car and expect the new owner to consult with you before getting new rims or stereo. And you can't sell the Basketball franchise and expect the new owner to consult with you regarding the GM, the coach or anything else. If you sell - It's not yours anymore. You need to let it go. I've read several stories about Glenn wanting the next owner to agree to keep the team in MN which I guess if fine. But certainly cuts down on interested buyers. But beyond that, I've read inferences that Glen has other contingencies to selling as well which keep him too involved in the franchise and scares away buyers.

Well the reality is he isn't selling the franchise outright and until that's what he desides to do or he dies he can keep looking to find a partnership to hand over the franchise. When he is ready or like I said before does If nobody accepts his terms fine they aren't going to buy the franchise now anyway because he isn't selling.

1. How much can Milt really fuck everything up? He has 4 starters locked up for at least 2 more full years and worst comes to worst he can just RFA all three of Zach, Wiggins and Towns if he can't reach deals with them for whatever unforseen reason. We already have our big 3 and they're all on rookie deals. It's gonna be hard for Milt to fuck it all up. Joe Schmo from rube chat could get the job and do very little and we'd still probably end up with a pretty good team even if it's not a title contender.
2. For being as control freaky as Glenn appears to be, why the Hell did he never force Flip to hire a coach? He never wanted Flip to coach. Why is he all of a sudden possibly forcing his hand with the coach in keeping Mitchell when he never did that to Flip when he didn't like the idea of Flip coaching?

I believe the multiple reports that state he DOES want to sell the franchise. But as I've stated - he's not going to find a buyer unless he's willing to sell AND back away which he's obviously not ready to do.

I agree Milt just has to stay the course but he can screw up a couple ways but so could anyone.
1. Botch the draft pick
2. End up not getting anything out of Bazz who seems like an asset.
3. Sign worthless FAs to terrible contracts.
I still think you are right Milt probably won't screw up too much at this point and he has a resume that suggests he is well qualified enough for the position. I feel like it's also. It just on Milt either. The Wolves have some guys that have been around for quite a while which is both good and bad. As far as the basketball operations Rob Babcock is around and while nobody wants to see him run a fanchise its good to have someone that's been around and done everything as a basketball executive as a dude in the background but helping out. It seems like Calvin Booth is the young basketball guy on the rise and it seems like anytime someone mentions him (usually people not associated with the wolves other broadcasters etc) it's always very positive. If Milt stays you wonder if maybe they bring in another bright young basketball mind that's from outside the organization.

I am ok sticking with Milt. He and Flip seemed to be on the same page and I like how Flip was building the team. Adding a POBO would be nice. I would be interested to know who Milt knows for the job because it would likely be a factor. As for Mitchell, I do not see this as much of a difference maker in the decision to keep him or not. Flip wouldn't hire Sam so I can't see it as a given that Milt will. I am anxious for these answers though.

Mankato Doofus making his play to waste this team away. Broken record skipping again. We're getting nowhere until that napkin slinger sells the team.

I agree with most the giving Milt the off-season to do some work is fine, especially with the sale on hold for the time being.
But status quo on the coaching front is not acceptable. Mitchell only has the "interim" tag. A coaching search will clearly be run. Of course, Mitchell will likely be a candidate.
The question is, will the search be conducted before or after the draft?
If it is before, then Milt will conduct the search (with Taylor meddling, obviously). But if it is after (which I suspect it will), then Milt needs to prove himself in the draft and free agency to earn Taylor's blessing to conduct the coaching search afterwards.

I hadn't seen this tweet before today. I like the idea of bringing in another person to help Milt.
"Taylor also said he would encourage Newton to bring in more help in the front office to assist him in the draft and free agency"

Yep. That's essentially the "Bat Signal" for the Country Club. Kevin McHale, or Randy Wittman once he's fired by Wizards will follow that signal home.
