Okay, khans. Run along now. Reading your posts get tiresome. Same bullshit, different day.

We could keep Ricky and throw a whole lot of money at Batum, Barnes, etc. and be in a better situation.

Hey Cam, this is probably a question for another thread, but....

You reference Batum, Barnes, etc a ton as guys we should get. I totally agree, but.....I have to bet that 75% of the teams in the NBA will have as much or more money than the Wolves next offseason. Both of those guys will be extremely high priority for teams not named the Timberwolves. While you seem to feel there is a pretty good chance to get them, I personally feel it is probably a 5% chance we actually get one of those key free agents. I know we love to tout the "talent" they would be lucky enough to play with....but not sure these guys aren't looking at our record over the past 10 years and seeing fools gold. Doesn't mean I do the deal with Houston above. But I also don't know that we can plan our future off projecting free agents we may get either.

Bingo. Cam is off in la la land thinking we are any kind of free agent destination for guys like Batum and Barnes who can go to perennial playoff teams and make the same money because everyone is going to have money. It's fun to think about, but it isn't happening. Ariza is attainable and might just need a change of scenery with other players who give a shit on defense and try (like our young core does) to improve his play. I'd rather plan for something attainable and not put all the eggs in the free agent basket in this market. This deal would stop us from overspending on anyone so we remain flexible moving forward while all these other teams add immovable monstrosities to their rosters.

Cam wasn't proclaiming the Wolves a likely destination for those free agents. He was simply saying that a trade like the Ariza trade discussed here would not make us better and would probably make us worse. I agree. Cam's only point about free agency is that taking a shot at Batum or Barnes would be better than doing a deal that looks more like step back than a step forward.

I've never been run off the board like you have in the past so maybe you should be the one to run along again with your tiresome takes.

Your proposed trade makes us even worse as a team. Bravo. Another excellent idea from the great khans. Should we dump Towns for Mosgov, Shumpert and Delly too?

In way am I saying it happens but Batum signed here once before

Agreed. That trade just doesn't move the needle enough IMO.

Geez, Plumlee does nothing for me. Don't mind moving Martin & Payne but that Rubio mention gets me a little nervous. I wouldn't mind Henson on the Bucks if we give up a minor player.

Only thing we didn't know was Plumlee's name. Haven't heard that one before. I liked him when he was in Phoenix. Could be a solid big off the bench. Not sure what we'd give to get him.

It makes sense to add a youngish backup center. This team doesn't have one of those he seems to be a guy that might help some with rebounding and general girth that we lack. Maybe something as simple as a Payne for Plumblee could work. They get a younger cheaper player locked up for at least a year longer that can shoot 3's. It's not a deal that's gonna draw headlines but even though I still have hope for Payne I do like Plumlee and think he could be a solid addition.

I do too. If we were able to get him for Payne, I'd jump all over it. He was quite effective several seasons ago with Phoenix. Since then, his role has somewhat changed on a different team, but he's still very mobile, long and athletic. Has always been a positive defender. Plays within himself. I'd give him a chance for sure. In my eyes, Plumlee for Payne would be a win. I'm just not 100% sure that's the price.

I know it sounds like it's too good to be true but he has played 33 games and less than 10 mpg and wasn't exactly a big time piece coming in that 3 team deal. He is a restricted FA this summer also so that could be good or bad depending on how they value him I guess. I just can't imagine they value him that much based on how much he has played, his age and pending FA but thats all I got. Lol

With Gasol done for the year, they might be considering the season over. And from a team concept they can sell the Rubio and Gasol match to their fans.

Memphis loses their 1st round pick to Denver if it falls between 6 and 14. I'm pretty sure that because of that they want to rather try to improve their team than make trades to fall out of playoffs. They will seek for sure some replacement for Gasol. Maybe they will try to get Koufos back from Sacramento. Sacramento will probably start tanking because it looks like they will miss playoffs once again. If their pick is worse than top10, they will lose their pick to Chicago. So they might make some trades to get future assets from any useful player they have.

It's certainly not much but here is the latest from Wolfson:

The Clippers are said to still have slight interest in Payne. But not sure I see anything happening. #twolves
