Wouldn't we draft Dunn simply because we desperately need 2 pgs? I really don't think that competing for a starting spot would be in Dunn's cards if we went this route. But great news if he can compete. Good problem to have. And playing Ricky with Bazz on the second unit would be sweet. I'm all for us drafting for need. Dunn certainly fits that, I'd rather have a 2nd pg that is an established shooter. But I can roll with Dunn.

This is the reality here. One of the biggest weaknesses this team faced last year was the drop in quality of play when Ricky hit the bench. Competent backup point guard play is just as important as other needs.

Well Sam could have played Andre Miller more but there were young guys to play. We could easily sign a vet PG that is easily more competent than Tyus or Lavine were last season.
I keep going back to what I have been saying for months BPA. if that's Dunn pick him I'll be fine with that even though I've been skeptical of his game translating into a really good player.

I like Milsap, but....just....wow.
17/9/3 stretch 4 who made 2nd team all-NBA defense. He's the perfect fit on this team.
Good player, but that sounds like a lot.

I guess I don't understand why people want to break up this team after our second half last year and replace starters with more rookies. We could see a big jump in wins this year without doing much this offseason. Let's see how that plays out next season before being a fool that rushes in.

Yeah. I always think back to that post Jordan Bulls team that traded away a bunch of guys to get better. Maybe they should have stuck with some of the guys they let go.
Elton Brand
Ron Artest
Brad Miller
Bruce Bowen (I'm cherry picking here)
Fred Hoiberg

Right and we don't HAVE to spend all of our cap either (see Nets,Brooklyn) and expect to be a lot better.

We went 17-24 after the all-star break last year. We still weren't even a .500 team. We have the money and the assets (top 5 pick) to take a real step this off season and not leave it all up to internal development. In fact, outside of Towns, Wiggins and Lavine, how much improvement can we really expect from the rest of the team? We aren't loaded with young assets outside of the big 3. Tyus and Bazz have ceilings due to either physical limitations or IQ ones. Dieng is already 26 so he kind of is who he is at this point. A solid fill in starter who probably should be the first big off the bench on a good team. Unless you see him becoming an all-star somehow he's not pushing the needle much more this year than last. Where is the significant internal improvement coming from that pushes us from a below .500 team to an above .500 team and why would you put all your eggs in that basket when you have other options available?

Well because I don't see your proposal of Milsap as making us better. He's getting older and giving up 3 assets for him doesn't sit well with me. And I disagree Dieng can't get better. No, he probably won't be an All-Star, but a starter? Yes, I think he can be. I'm willing to gamble on internal development for at least another year.

Edit: They'd likely demand LaVine, Dieng, and No. 5.
With the value you assign to Horford and Milsap, I wonder why they aren't in the NBA finals. Teague is a quality guard as is Bazemore. With Korver and Schroder added in shouldn't they be a lot better? Unless, maybe you overrate both Horford and Milsap?
