I think if Pek is healthy and playing well you start him because if nothing else you want his minutes to be with Rubio although you really want pretty much everyone to play with Rubio lol. Whether Towns or Okafor starts the year in the starting lineup doesn't matter all that much to me because Pek is gonna miss time and KG is going to miss some games. I wouldn't rule out Towns starting next to Pek at least some nights if Towns is up to the task relatively speaking especially defensively. KG playing with some ofbthe tough guys on the 2nd unit makes a lot of sense as well especially if Lavine gets minutes at PG off the bench. That backup PG spot is up in the air right now we don't know if it will be a young guy a vet a scorer or what.

I think Pek gets shopped this offseason. If we draft Okafor then he for sure will be shopped because they can't play together and we aren't spending all that money on a backup C.

Nobody is trading for Pek TRKO. With his contract and injury history he is about as unmovable as you get. So he isn't going to be realistically shopped.

That's what I fear. We need him to have a strong first half so we can hurry and pawn him off on someone else.

What are your guys' expectations for this team in the next 1-2 years if we end up with Towns? Like record wise? I ask that because with the West about to face some possible drastic changes due to free agency and/or retirements (PDX, Dallas, Phoenix, SA), do you think the Wolves could progress sooner than later and sneak into the playoffs?

Because if you think that (as I do), I think you HAVE to have Kevin Martin as a focal point on this team. Some of these posts in this thread as well as in others have him being shipped out for random parts, leaving the team extremely thin in the scoring department. I think he actually becomes MORE valuable as a volume scorer on a more complete team with a more well-rounded Wiggins, healthy pass-first PG, and defensive front line (KG/Dieng/Towns).

Just curious as to your thoughts....

I don't see us making the playoffs next year. It's possible we can contend 2 to 3 years from now when our young guys are more mature and ready to go.

ZigZag, I think this team need to take 2 huge steps in the next 2 seasons. Maybe not making the playoffs next year, but should be close, then the following year be a playoff series winner and top 5 team in the West. We've had more 1st round picks than any team the last 5 or so years, this incompetent franchise needs a huge leap to keep its fans. It worked for the Wizards, it should work for us.

It all depends on health. If the team manages to stay reasonably healthy, they easily compete for a playoff spot next year. If they experience the same level of injuries as they did this year, they struggle to win 20.

I think our goal should be .500 this year. Playoffs the next. The 2017 free agency class looks pretty good. We need to have some space cleared so we can add a piece or two. Wiggins, LaVine, and Towns/Okafor/Russell should be pretty close to liftoff and we should be an attractive landing spot for future free agents.

30 something wins this year. Around .500 the next with a possible playoff push. Playoff team in year 4 of Lavine/Wiggins and year 3 of Towns. Towns isn't enough to completely transform the defense as a rookie.
