I get why people think Adelman hasn't given williams a fair shake and yet name what it is exactly that he has shown on a game to game basis to make you really feel he needs to play alot of minutes? To me the answer is not enough to warrant getting upset about his lack of playing time. We have been spectators to plenty of mediocre to awful players on this team in the past few years and Williams fits in that catagory at this point. If the guy was a lower pick people wouldn't be so upset about his lack of minutes. Bottom line is Williams is playing and has played more like a late tees 20's pick than a top 5 pick. He is a poor converter at the offensive end and hasn't shown enough in other areas to make much of an impact. He went from being brutally bad in other areas in his first year to decent last year.
Now I've said that williams hasn't been too great but I say we gotta keep hoping he turns out to be something worthwhile. He is still just 22 and has some legit positives in his game. If all we are getting back for him is some fringe starter solid rotation player we might as well keep him. I hope if we end up moving him we get more than a salary dump type situation but who knows. I think he still has some value around the league because of his youth.
Bottom line is Williams has to do something to merit getting minutes and I amok with that Adelman is a heck of a coach and has developed a number of young players and worked well with plenty of knuckleheads as well. There may be a system that Williams may fit into better but it might not have Rubio type PG getting him easy baskets either. I want to see how the first 20 or so games shake out for Williams and some other young guys and go from there.
