Would you take Jahlil Okafor if you had the chance?
Re: Would you take Jahlil Okafor if you had the chance?
This has got to be the earliest in the season we have had a draft thread in a while. Ugh.

...And my Mudiay post is turning into a China league back and forth. The point was: Mudiay is going to be a franchise carrier. You draft him if he's available, no matter the team or its needs. That's especially if the team is the Minnesota Wolves. I was replying to someone who said they wouldn't take him.

Ok Mudiay is really good. No asrgument. Who would you campare him to ? Westbrook? BUT I am not excited about him repalcing Ricky and then starting over. Again

Mudiay would be a great pick for us.
From ESPN Chad Ford - Top PG's
Mudiay's decision to skip his freshman season at SMU and head to play professional ball in China raised a lot of eyebrows among NBA scouts. But so far, so good. Through his first five games, Mudiay is averaging 19.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 7.0 assists in 34.0 minutes per game, and is shooting 47 percent from 3-point range. He's doing all of this while averaging just 2.5 turnovers per game. While lots of players who couldn't make the cut in the NBA have inflated numbers in China, Mudiay's performance has been impressive for an 18-year-old. He especially wowed in his last game versus Qingdao, racking up a triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists with zero turnovers. If he keeps playing like this, he'll be a serious candidate for the No. 1 pick, especially if a team in need of a guard lands the top selection.

Yep. He's posting video game numbers over there as a teenager. Has all the tools paired with a good understanding of the game and the takeover gene. With how important perimeter players are becoming, I'd say he's a lock in the top-three.

Anyone know how the China league ball would be compared to D-League? I know if I was a baller I would go where the money is. And the d-League doesn't pay jack with slim chance of coming to NBA>

Well Stephon Marbury is nearing 40 years old and is averaging 30/5/5 a game over there if that tells you anything.

Thats what I am saying, Mudiay is damn good and I am not going to argue that but don't put any stock in the numbers he is putting up he is playing a terrible no defense league. I would draft him though.

Re: Would you take Jahlil Okafor if you had the chance?
Watching Okafor tonight. He looks to be pretty well put together offensively with a versatile post move set and seeing highlights of him making good passes out of double teams is always a plus. He looks long, but he looks slow in terms of his ability to defend the PnR. Maybe he's long enough to make a difference. It's hard to tell right now. He also doesn't look like he gets much lift off the ground. He's definitely of the old school mold. I personally prefer more of a defensive anchor at the 5, but I would take him if he was available over a guy like Mudiay. I think Ricky has shown enough where Mudiay shouldn't be the pick in my opinion unless everyone else just drops off or gets taken and Mudiay is the last top guy left. I like the idea of starting the more experienced Dieng and bringing Okafor in as the first big off the bench as a go to guy for the second unit against bench bigs to build his confidence and prevent him from getting man handled by guys like Gasol, Cousins, etc. right out of the gate.
