If Davis is a top-three PF, then who gets bumped out of Love/Aldridge/Griffin? Sorry, but he's not even close to being on that level yet. His potential is absurd, but for whatever reason, people want to rush things and say he's an elite player in the league. I don't buy it. Also, nobody's sleeping on his defense. That's his biggest strength as of right now. We're just waiting on his offensive game to become more diverse.

As for the MVP award, Durant being injured doesn't change anything for me. It's LeBron's award to win. It's actually ridiculous that Rose and Durant won one over him in the first place.

Not even close? Boy, seems pretty close to me: http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&p1=davisan02&y1=2014&p2=griffbl01&y2=2014&p3=aldrila01&y3=2014

His PER, WS/48, and Ortg are all superior to Blake and LMA. His offensive game may not be as "diverse" so to speak, but he's pretty damn effective. I'd take him over either of those two guys in terms of all-around impact on a game.

Davis's defensive game is FAR superior to Love/Aldridge/Griffin, and his offensive game is MUCH closer to Griffin's than casual fans think (Spoiler Alert: He does more than just jump high and dunk).

He's also 21.

He also doesn't get to play with the best PG in the league.

So yes, next May it will be Love/Aldridge/Davis/Griffin in that order.

I agree with zig zag, Anthony Davis is a beast and probably the best two way PF in the league. And the scary thing is he's only 21.

If I started a franchise I would build it around Anthony Davis.

I agree with everything you said except for the last sentence. In my opinion it will be like this next may: Davis, Love, Aldridge, Griffin.

I don't think you give Davis nearly enough credit. He is a superior talent. I see him as a KG type defensive presence for the better part of his career. Add his improved mid-range game and likely range to the 3-point line in the near future and he is undoubtedly the best PF in the league. 21pts, 10 rebounds (which I expect to improve as he gains more strength), 3 blocks, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 assists per game for a PER of 26.5, at 21 years old that is incredible! Please explain to me how that is not even close to the level of the "top 3 PFs" you mentioned. I'd go as far as saying he is one of 4 players in the league that are completely untouchable franchise players, behind only Lebron, Durant, and Chris Paul. The reality is that Davis is not a liability in any facet of the game. You cannot say that for Love, Aldridge, or Griffin. I realize how great Love is on offense and ending possessions with his defensive rebounding, but I'm taking Davis for my team over him 10 times out of 10. He can be a game changer on both sides of the court. Remember, there are two sides to this game. The only possible knock on Anthony Davis is that he has missed 20 games in each of his first two seasons, aside from that, he is the real deal.

I'll add to the dicussion of this thread Durant's injury might open things up for another MVP but not sure who.

LST Your stance on Love in this thread is pretty ridiculous. Now can I see the Bulls beating the Cavs in the playoffs? Yes maybe if they are healthy and thibs is likely to outcoach Blatt but a lot has to go right for chicago in the injury dept for that to happen. I'd pick the cavs right now.

Are you just assuming the Cavs will be healthy? They have certainly had their share of injuries as well. Irving, Varajao, and of course Love.

I think AD might become the top PF this season. Too many people sleep on his defensive ability. Having Asik next to him is going to really strengthen the paint in NO.

You make a good point about the Cavs health. I'd say the Bulls have more to worry about there but you bring up a great point why its not crazy to think the Bulls could be in the Finals after beating the Cavs. Beal's wrist injury hurts the Wizards but that is a team that should not be taken lightly if he gets back healthy and playing well.

I agree with you on AD. I think he could end up being the best big in the entire league this season.

One other thing I could see the Spurs start a little slow although they will probably be just fine without Diaw being with the team resting from the WC and Mills being out for a few months.

Best Team - OKC
Worst Team - 76ers or maybe a surprise INDIANA!
MVP - Durant
Defensive Player of Year - Anthony Davis
Most Improved Player - Greek Freak or Anthony Bennett
Title Winner - OKC
ROY - Wiggins
Surprise Team - Orlando Magic or Charlotte Bobcats

I'd put Davis at the top of the PF list. If I had to pick one PF and didn't know the teammates I'd Davis every time. Davis is so far ahead of Love defensively that no matter how much better Love is offensively it can't possibly make up the difference.

Thanks for reminding me Paul George was out for the year and Lance signed elsewhere. Great, just another middle of the road East team now for the West to beat up on. I guess I'll pick the Bulls then.

Didn't know Durant was also hurt. MVP goes to....Chris Paul.
